Today I was looking at my investment statements since taking over my own finances in January through my license in financial services. I moved part of my RRSP from my self-directed portfolio into professionally managed funds (services conventionally reserved for the wealthiest Canadians - but our company has broken down that barrier).

Results: a 16.5% rate of return which outperforms the market by 2% Generated a passive return of thousands of $ in these few months. Great!
But there’s more to this financial empowerment story: the future part. A difference of 2% better returns over 20 years generates 45% more money because of the effects of compounding.
Past results don’t guarantee future performance - but compound interest and time are inarguably our friends.

If we want health in our later years, if we want to contribute to and bless our children and their children and enjoy a thriving longevity, simply put we need access to wealth. Financial independence. But if you’re on a middle income like me and my husband, how??
