A new step forward in neurological rehabilitation. 💙

We're excited to introduce Body Weight Assisted Gait Training at Westwood Physiotherapy Neuro & Vestibular Rehab.

This system provides adjustable body-weight support, allowing individuals to practice walking in a safe and controlled environment while working closely with one of our physiotherapists.

For many people recovering from conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, and other neurological conditions, the opportunity to take more quality steps during a session can play an important role in rebuilding walking ability, confidence, and independence.

While the technology is an exciting addition, it's only one part of the process. Every treatment session is guided by a physiotherapist who tailors the level of support, walking intensity, and progression to each person's goals, abilities, and stage of recovery.

At Westwood, we believe the best outcomes come from combining evidence-informed care with the right tools to support every stage of rehabilitation.

💙 Curious if Body Weight Assisted Gait Training could be part of your recovery? Contact our team to learn more or book an assessment.

Many people think physiotherapy is just a list of exercises.

In reality, that's only one part of the process.

Effective treatment starts with understanding why you're experiencing pain or movement limitations. Through a thorough assessment, we look at how your body moves, identify what's contributing to your symptoms, and create a personalized plan based on your goals.

Your care may include hands-on treatment, education, targeted exercises, and practical strategies to help you move with greater confidence—not just in the clinic, but in everyday life.

💙 If pain or stiffness has been holding you back, we're here to help you find the right path forward.

Does an old injury ever seem to flare up out of nowhere? 🌦️

Maybe your knee feels achy on certain days, your shoulder becomes stiff after a stressful week, or your back starts bothering you after you've been less active.

While these flare-ups can be frustrating, they don't always mean you've re-injured yourself.

Pain is influenced by many factors—including activity levels, stress, sleep, and how sensitive your nervous system is at a given time. Sometimes an old injury simply becomes more noticeable, even without new tissue damage.

Understanding what may be contributing to these changes is an important step toward managing symptoms, staying active, and moving with confidence.

💙 If an old injury keeps returning or is affecting your daily life, we're here to help you find the underlying cause and create a plan that works for you.

Lower back pain is common—but the cause isn't always obvious.

Pain in the same area can come from different structures, including muscles, joints, discs, the sacroiliac (SI) joint, or even changes in how your nervous system processes pain. That's why what works for one person may not work for another.

A thorough assessment helps identify what's contributing to your symptoms so treatment can be tailored to your body, your goals, and your lifestyle.

Physiotherapy may help improve mobility, build strength, restore confidence in movement, and reduce the risk of future flare-ups.

💙 If back pain has been slowing you down, you don't have to figure it out on your own.

Do you wake up feeling like the room is spinning? 🌀

Dizziness first thing in the morning can be unsettling, but it's more common than you might think.

For some people, it's related to changes in blood pressure or hydration after a night's sleep. For others, it may be caused by an inner ear condition called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), where simple movements like rolling over or sitting up can trigger a spinning sensation.

The good news? Many causes of dizziness are treatable.

Vestibular physiotherapy helps identify what's contributing to your symptoms and uses targeted techniques and exercises to improve balance, reduce dizziness, and help you feel more confident in your daily activities.

💙 If dizziness has been disrupting your mornings or making you feel unsteady throughout the day, we're here to help.

Recovery after a stroke is different for everyone. 💙

For some, progress means taking those first independent steps. For others, it might be returning to everyday tasks like getting dressed, preparing a meal, or feeling more confident walking through the community.

No matter the goal, every milestone is worth celebrating.

Physiotherapy can play an important role in stroke rehabilitation by helping improve balance, strength, coordination, mobility, and confidence. With consistent practice and a personalized treatment plan, the brain and body can continue adapting and learning throughout the recovery journey.

Progress isn't always linear, but meaningful improvements are possible with the right support.

If you or someone you care about is recovering from a stroke, we're here to help you move toward your goals—one step at a time.
