He didn’t want to forget him.

Not the walks.
Not the quiet moments in the studio.
Not the days they spent together on the beach.

For 14 years, Taiwanese artist Liang Renchuan had a companion who never left his side.

A dog named Hachiko.

He wasn’t just a pet.
He appeared in Renchuan’s life on one of the hardest days… the day of his father’s funeral. A stray puppy who somehow found his way into the funeral parlor that night.

And from that moment on… he stayed.

They built a life together.

Every trip to the beach meant collecting driftwood for art. Renchuan carried the heavy pieces… while Hachiko ran freely, playing in the sand, always nearby.

Back in the studio, Hachiko would sit and watch him work. Quiet. Loyal. Always there.

Then one day… he wasn’t.

After a long life, Hachiko passed away in the very place he loved most.

The silence that followed was unbearable.

So Renchuan did the only thing he knew how to do.

He started building him again.

Using the same driftwood they had collected side by side for years… piece by piece… he created a life-sized sculpture of Hachiko.

Every curve. Every detail.

And when it was finished, he placed Hachiko’s collar around it.

Not as art.

As memory.

Now, the dog who once followed him everywhere… still stands in that studio.

And every time Renchuan walks back onto the beach…

He doesn’t feel alone anymor

Lately I’ve been exploring new creative outlets, both for myself and for the work I do with clients.
As many of you know, I often use art and creativity as powerful tools for expression and healing in my therapy practice. Recently, I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with songwriting. I discovered an app called Suno that transforms your lyrics into different musical genres, and it’s been a surprisingly joyful way to play, process, and create.

One of the songs I wrote was inspired by an ongoing situation where someone has been creating multiple fake profiles to monitor, harass and falsely rate my social media and online business listings. Rather than letting it drain my energy, I chose to channel the experience into art, turning something uncomfortable into something expressive, humorous, and empowering. The song has adult lyrics, in case there are children around, fyi.

Creativity continues to be one of my favourite ways to transform stress into something meaningful. If you’re curious about exploring art therapy or using creative expression to navigate your own experiences, you’re always welcome to reach out.

When things feel out of control, you start believing the lie that YOU have no control.

But there’s always something you can do - even if it’s just shifting the way you think about your situation, or just taking one small action.

That's my goal with creating this newsletter for you.

Every Monday and Thursday, first thing in the morning, I send you mindset tools or practical strategies to help you take your power back - starting with what’s right in front of you.

Sometimes it’s a tool that’ll help you get ahead in your career, or feel more confident.

Sometimes it’s a simple but powerful health protocol that’ll give you more energy.

Sometimes it’s a personal story that’ll help you feel less alone.

But it’s never about shame, doing more just to feel productive, or forcing yourself to power through when you’re already running on empty.

It’s about doing the right things, with intention.

If you want a quick preview, tomorrow's newsletter is about this one weird but effective tool I've been using every morning before I start my day that not only gives me more energy but makes me incredibly productive.
