It’s incredible how much a nose can change the face.

This patient is now one year post-rhinoplasty, and her results are beautiful.

But what you see in a before and after is only part of the story.

A closer look at rhinophyma, and what treatment at GFP can achieve.

Rhinophyma is a form of advanced rosacea that causes the skin and tissue of the nose to thicken and enlarge. Over time, this can create a bulbous, irregular appearance and alter the natural contours of the nose.

For this patient, treatment included CO₂ laser resurfacing, designed to precisely remove excess tissue and reshape the nasal contours.

This is the patient’s result 8 months post-treatment, showing the continued improvement in contour and overall appearance.
CO₂ laser is one of several procedural approaches used to treat rhinophyma and has demonstrated effective, durable results in clinical studies.

While your feed is filling up with first-day-of-school photos, we thought we’d join in on the fun and introduce you to Dr. Karan Gandhi, our newest Facial Plastic Surgery Fellow.

Dr. Gandhi is completing advanced subspecialty training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Guelph Facial Plastics under the mentorship of Dr. Brace.

Originally from Oakville, Ontario, Dr. Gandhi completed his residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Western University, where he gained extensive experience in head and neck procedures, including complex reconstruction and facial cosmetic surgery.

He also brings high-volume experience in clinic-based procedures such as mole, cyst, and skin lesion removal, with a meticulous and detail-oriented approach to achieving excellent aesthetic outcomes.

Beyond his clinical experience, Dr. Gandhi is known for his calm, attentive manner and thoughtful approach to patient care. He takes the time to ensure every patient feels comfortable, supported, and confident throughout their experience.

So, consider this his official first-day-of-school photo dump.

What does it take to make the face look more refreshed, without making it look “done”?

In this week’s Facial Plastics Friday, Dr. Brace walks through a patient who wanted to address some of the changes that can happen with aging, including a common concern we hear often: “I want my eyes to look brighter and more refreshed.”

For this patient, the treatment plan combined:
• Face + neck lift
• Upper blepharoplasty
• CO₂ laser resurfacing

Each procedure addressed a different area.

At 6 months post-op, the result is a great example of what rejuvenation can look like when the goal isn’t to change how you look, but to help you look brighter, smoother , younger, and refreshed.

In the video, Dr. Brace explains what was bothering the patient, why these procedures were recommended together, and how each contributed to her overall result.

6 months post-op: Face + Neck Lift, Upper Blepharoplasty and CO2 Laser treated by Dr. Brace

A beautiful example of how combining procedures can create a natural, refreshed result across the face, neck, and eyes.

For this patient, the treatment plan addressed multiple areas at once: lifting and restoring the lower face and neck, refreshing the upper eyelids, and improving the overall quality of the skin with CO2 laser resurfacing.

Rather than focusing on one feature, this approach helps create a more complete result where each area still feels balanced with the rest of the face.

At 6 months post-op, her appearance looks brighter, smoother, and refreshed while still looking completely natural.

Rosacea can be persistent, but with the right treatment plan, meaningful changes are possible.

This patient came to see us for support in managing the rosacea she had been dealing with.

These results are after 3 treatments of BBL (Broad Band Light) spaced 4-6 weeks apart. BBL delivers precise wavelengths of light to target:
* Pigment
* Vascular redness
* Acne-causing bacteria
* Signs of photoaging

Unlike older IPL systems, the BBL uses controlled energy delivery and advanced filtering to target melanin and hemoglobin effectively. It also promotes cellular renewal and collagen production.

The result? A noticeable improvement in the overall appearance of her skin, with less visible redness and a more even-looking complexion.
