✨Just as a horse’s movement changes from moment to moment, our emotions are constantly changing too. We don’t have to chase them away or hold onto them, we can learn to ride the waves as they come and go.

We are quick to call it dominance.

But I've learned that behaviour becomes a lot more interesting when we stop asking, "What do we call this?"

And start asking, "Why might this horse be doing it?"
The label is easy.

Understanding the horse takes a little more curiosity.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the courage it takes to show up as your authentic self 💗

Horses don’t judge labels, appearances, or identities. They respond to what is happening in the present moment, our emotions, energy, and authenticity. In equine assisted therapy, this can create a unique space to explore self-acceptance, confidence, belonging, and connection.

This Pride Month, we honour the diversity, strength, and resilience of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Everyone deserves spaces where they feel safe, valued, and accepted for who they are.

Authenticity is not something horses ask us to earn, it is simply something they invite us to bring 🏳️‍🌈

Unverified , June 1, 2026: Fentanyl suspected to contain high levels of toxicity causing multiple suspected overdoses in Cumberland County

We have received a report from a community source regarding fentanyl suspected to contain high levels of toxicity causing multiple suspected overdoses in Cumberland County.

How to Stay Safe: Let someone know, start low, and go slow.

✔ Do NOT use drugs alone – Use with someone you trust or call the National Overdose Response Service (NORS) at 1-888-688-NORS. They will stay on the phone with you while you use, so they can get you help if needed.

✔ Start with a very small amount – These drugs are stronger than what people may expect or may be used to.

✔ Have naloxone ready – Naloxone can help with opioid overdoses, but it will NOT work on other substances, such as benzodiazepines. Even if you're unsure what substance caused an overdose, always give naloxone—it won’t harm the person, but it may help if opioids are involved.

✔ Call 911 immediately for any overdose – Even if naloxone is used, emergency help is still needed.

✔ Expect the unexpected – Always assume street drugs may not be what you think and contain drugs different from or stronger than you expect. Pills that look like real medicine could be fake.

✔ Avoid mixing drugs – Combining opioids, benzodiazepines, and alcohol greatly increases the risk of overdose and death.

✔ Go to an overdose prevention site – If available in your area, these sites provide a safe space to use drugs with medical staff who can help in case of an emergency.

If someone overdoses:

· Call 911 immediately – Tell them someone is unresponsive.
· Give naloxone if you have it. More than one dose may be needed if high potency opioids are involved. If there are no opioids, naloxone will be ineffective but will not cause harm – give it anyway.
· Stay with them and make sure they can breathe.
· If they stop breathing, perform CPR until help arrives.

Get Free Naloxone Kits: You can get naloxone for free at most pharmacies and harm reduction programs. To learn more, visit: https://mha.nshealth.ca/en/takehomenaloxoneprogram

✨ Horses don’t care about job titles, achievements, etc. They respond to what is happening beneath the surface.

In equine assisted therapy, many people discover that they don’t need to perform, pretend, or be “perfect.” The horse responds most readily when we are honest, grounded, and authentic. Sometimes healing begins when we stop asking, “Who should I be?” and start asking, “Who am I, right now?” 💜

Sometimes two things can be true at the same time!

In equine assisted therapy, horses can help us notice opposing feelings with honesty and compassion. Learning to practice DBT’s “Two Truths”, means when emotions feel intense, we need to stop and ask:
✨ What am I feeling?
✨ What else might also be true right now?

Use “AND”, instead of “BUT”. By using “and” we can hold space for two truths to exist together. Instead of “I’m anxious but I’ll be okay.”, try “I’m anxious AND I can handle this.”

Healing often happens when we stop seeing emotions as all-or-nothing and begin making space for complexity. Horses can help us practice that balance in real time 💙

Horses have an incredible ability to notice what words often hide ✨

In equine assisted therapy, horses respond to our nervous systems, not just our behaviour. They notice tension, breathing, energy, pace, and emotional presence.

Equine assisted therapy offers a unique opportunity to experience attunement in real time, through relationship, movement, and connection 🤍
