It’s been awhile! We’ve been keeping busy and I’ve been treating lots of great human and animal patients lately🥰

Some of my animal cases have included:

🐶Conservative non-surgical management of a CCL tear (comparable to a human ACL tear)
🐕Supportive care for several senior pups (hips/shoulder/back)
🐩Soft tissue shoulder injury
🦮Hip/low back soreness in a dog who’s recently started running with his human

If you’re curious about chiropractic for your pup (or chicken😂) don’t hesitate to reach out!

French Fry Update🍟

French Fry’s owner initially contacted me because her mobility was non existent, she couldn’t stand on her own, she had to be placed with supports to eat and drink, and she had no real chance of survival in her flock.

This video was sent to me over the weekend by her owner to show her progress - crazy right🤯. I’ve said it before but I can’t believe how far she’s come in only 2 treatments.

She’s found some new freedom and I’m so thrilled I was able to be a small part of that🥲

I saw French Fry for the second time today and it’s hard to believe she’s the same chicken! She’s made great progress over the last few days and is starting to understand proper walking mechanics.

As she starts to build her strength and fine tune her movements she now stands much taller, flaps her wings less and is a more relaxed houseguest (I'll upload videos in another post!)

Her owner has been so attentive in her care, we can only hope that the future is bright for little French Fry!

French Fry has had mobility issues since she hatched. She hasn’t been able to stay with her flock because chickens will prey on the weak and she wouldn’t survive with them.

When French Fry tried to walk, her feet would cross and because of this she fell over. You can see in the first few pictures how she naturally placed her feet. She also had a tendency to try to walk or sit on the backs of her feet - you can see her resting that way.

During her first visit, we worked on joint mobility in her hind end and some proprioceptive conditioning.

Introducing French Fry - she’s a 12 week old showgirl naked neck Easter egger chicken! She came to see me this morning for some mobility issues. A chicken was definitely a first for me but French Fry was so sweet.

Is anyone interested in learning more about her unique case?! Her progress in such a short amount of time is quite impressive!

Let me know if anyone wants another post about little French Fry🍟

Before I get into each of the 4 components from my last post specifically, let’s go over a few training principles.

A lot of these principles may seem like common sense, but they are often overlooked.

1. To initiate change, you need to ask your dog to do more than they are doing currently.

2. Time! When you ask your dog to do more, it will take time for their body to adapt to the new changes. Time and consistency are important.

3. Keep progressing! If your dog becomes comfortable with what you’re doing - it’s time to switch it up! (Unless you pup is more on the palliative side - in this case keep things comfortable!)

4. Use it or lose it! Just like us, dogs can lose their conditioning after prolonged periods of rest. So don’t expect your pup to perform exercises from a month ago after a break in training!

5. Last but not least, have fun with it! Cross training and/or rehab shouldn’t be a chore - enjoy the bonding time with your dog!
