Summer Series Workout 1

05/24/2026

Welcome to Test Week! For the next 2 weeks we'll be doing some testing in many of our CrossFit classes. Some are metcons, some are small sets of isolated skills and/or lifts.

The key thing to know during these 2 weeks is that we are simply collecting data. If there happens to be a test
that you hit a PR on or surprise yourself with how you do, awesome! If there is one that is either very hard, feels
discouraging that you have to scale it all, don't worry and don't panic. These are designed to challenge you but
also teach you something about yourself.

We use these tests to objectively see where our fitness is at and from a programming perspective, helps guide the program to ensure we are hitting all realms of fitness in a
balanced way and we don't shift too far one way or the other.

To cap off our testing period with a bang, the events of the summer series CrossFit competition will be the final tests!

Coming Monday.

May the 4th be with you ✨️

Run: scaling distance to take less than 10 minutes.
Toes to Bar: start with bigger sets. Let the fatigue creep up.
Run: again!
OHS: large sets with focus on reaching overhead continually. If you can't get below parallel in OHS, scale to front squat.

finished off another winter off-season training block last night! They kick off their competitive season next weekend in Toronto.

This crew always comes prepared and has put in 16 weeks of preparation, building a strong base of strength followed by increasing power and agility to maximize their performance and reduce risk of injury during the season.

Good luck this year !

Happy Sunday! Weekly update for programming. Lots of things coming this week. Dumbbell bench press, back squats, strict ring pull ups among other odd ring things, toes to bar and bar muscle ups, kettlebell thrusters and hang power cleans, and MAYBE some running on Saturday.

Swipe for some words on Monday's workout. Use what you learned on Friday and apply it today!

Have a great week and I'll see you in the gym.

Easter Monday update

Entering an off season cycle! For the next few months we'll be doing more learning, skills, and strength building! Work starts now. Engine piece today has a ton of getting up and down and heart rate work. Later this week we'll see skill/strength for snatches, a heavy deadlift plus strict pull ups metcon, LOTS of wallballs, and a fun engine-gymnastics partner workout on Saturday.

See you in the gym!

DURABILITY

We see this in our CrossFit classes all the time. Otherwise referred to as accessories, the smaller movements we do matter in the grand scheme of training.

Many CrossFit programs used to lack this kind of work. We'd say functional movement doesn't require the isolation or 'bodybuilding' work. We know that isn't the case now and never has been, it all has a place.

We use our durability track to hit smaller groups that often need extra loading for the types of weaknesses we see. Being an athletic therapist I can pinpoint the target areas most commonly weakest in our movement and address them to give you a better, more well rounded fitness program.

Come for a class and give your best to your successories!

On Friday we start a taper OR deload, which means a bit less volume and loading, and a decrease in the intensity we are asking of you.

For those doing the open, this gives you an opportunity to rest up and recover to prepare the body for 26.1 as well as the unpredictability of workouts during the open season.

For those not doing the open, It's still CrossFit, it's still high intensity but we are not asking for maximal intensity until the open workouts are out. For those not doing the open, treat this as a deload. Our role as coaches in this period are:

On Friday we start a taper OR deload, which means a bit less volume and loading, and a temporary decrease in the intensity we are asking of you.

For those doing the open, this gives you an opportunity to rest up and recover to prepare the body for 26.1 as well as the unpredictability of workouts during the open season.

For those not doing the open, this is a deload that means the same things as the taper, but it's for a period of slightly lower intensity and volume to let the body recover and reap the benefits of your hard work in the past few months. Consider it a regular and imperative part to the yearly programming cycle. In the grand scheme of things it will greatly benefit your fitness.

It's still CrossFit, it's still high intensity functional movement, you'll still get a good workout in. but we are not asking for maximal intensity for about a week until the first open workout is released.

See you in the gym and enjoy those 90 burpees today!
