Our conference attendees love hearing about homegrown dementia care ideas from the speakers in our Promising Practices Showcase, presented by Shannex! The Showcase allows the sector to learn directly from Maritime peers working in dementia care. It could be a new program, care approach, or tool that has improved the lives of people living with dementia.

Nominate your own team or someone else to share at our conference - ideas big or small can make an impact! The nomination form and eligibility details can be found at www.alzheimer.ca/ns/en/promising-practices. Make your nominations by August 31, 2026.

Dementia has many faces. There are the people we may typically think about, those living with the mid or late stages of dementia. But there are also people who have been recently diagnosed, and the care partners who support them.

Developing more inclusive and welcoming spaces creates a positive impact well beyond people living with dementia. It creates more accessibility and support for everyone, and no role is too small in making it happen.

Swipe through to see the many faces of dementia, then visit our new resource hub to learn how you can help: www.alzheimer.ca/dfc

Dementia diagnoses are on the rise in Canada. Every day, over 400 people are diagnosed, and that number, along with dementia's impact, will only continue to grow. Dementia affects far more than the people living with it. It touches families, care partners, and whole communities.

That's what Dementia-Friendly Canada is about. It calls on communities to recognize the impact of dementia and take action to develop spaces that are inclusive, supportive, and welcoming for people living with dementia and their care partners.

Being dementia-friendly is a journey, not a destination. No role is too small, and every small step helps create a more inclusive and supportive environment, not just for people affected by dementia, but for everyone.

Be part of building a Dementia-Friendly Canada today. Visit alzheimer.ca/dfc to explore our new resource hub, with tip sheets, checklists, and practical tools for individuals, businesses and organizations.

Join us on October 20th for a day of the latest in dementia care at our annual conference!

This year's theme is Shifting Mindsets. Together, we'll challenge conventional thinking about dementia care and ask important questions: Can embracing risk lead to more meaningful, positive outcomes for the people we support?

Save when you register by September 13th for both in-person and virtual options. Visit www.alzheimer.ca/ns/conference to learn more and secure your seat for this inspiring event.
