Drowning can happen quickly, silently and in only a few centimetres of water.

Follow these tips for a safe swim:

• Teach children about water safety by signing them up for swim lessons and water safety programs;
• Swim in a safe place, like a supervised beach or public swimming pool;
• Make sure children are wearing high-visibility swimwear – bright, high-contrast colours are easier to see.
