Thank you to Professor Greg Goodman, Mike Clague and colleagues for placing patient safety ahead of industry pressure.

This international study included an expert panel (n = 31) and a cross‑sectional attendee survey (n = 218) — reinforcing the importance of ethical governance in aesthetic education.

Two years ago, I made the decision that THMA would no longer perform live injections during symposiums. It was clear that the environment did not align with public health guidelines, nor did it allow providers to maintain full focus on safe technique. If a complication occurred on stage, the meeting would need to pause to ensure proper care — and that was not acceptable.

Instead, presenters were encouraged to use video demonstrations, allowing for discussion and Q&A without compromising safety.

Ethically, this was the right choice — and I’m proud to see that as an early adopter of this approach, I was on the right track to protect both patients and providers.
