This thoughtful article from IMD explores several trends shaping the future of leadership, including strategic thinking, AI, adaptability, and human-centred leadership. One idea that particularly resonated with me was leadership agility.
We often talk about agility as though it's a characteristic that some leaders naturally possess. I've come to think of it as a capability that can be intentionally developed.
Within my Depth Perception Leadership™ framework, I explore this idea as an ongoing process of adapting to new information, taking action, measuring outcomes, reflecting on what we've learned, and transforming how we lead. This thinking forms the basis of the ADMIT framework, one component of the broader model.
One of the most encouraging aspects of leadership is that the capabilities we admire most in others aren't necessarily fixed traits. They're skills that can be strengthened through deliberate practice and reflection.
As organizations continue to navigate increasing complexity, perhaps our greatest advantage will be responding to change and continuing to learn from it.
