Today we’re celebrating our fearless leader, Phil Seagrove, our Location Manager and the person who keeps us all moving in the right direction.

Phil, thank you for always supporting us, guiding us, encouraging us, and somehow managing to be the calm and steady light in the middle of everything we do. Your leadership, kindness, and genuine care for both our families and our team never go unnoticed.

We’re incredibly lucky to have someone who leads with so much heart, always has our backs, and makes our workplace a better place to be. ❤️

One of the greatest honours a person can receive is to be asked to serve as a pallbearer.

More than simply carrying a casket, pallbearers represent the love, respect, and support that surrounded a person throughout their life. Often made up of family members, close friends, or those who shared a special bond with the deceased, pallbearers take part in a final act of service—helping carry their loved one on their last journey.

While the role can be emotional, it is also deeply meaningful. It is a quiet tribute that speaks volumes about the relationship shared and the impact a person had on those around them.

At a funeral, every gesture matters, and the presence of pallbearers serves as a powerful reminder that no one walks through life—or is remembered afterward—alone.

For more than 70 years, Cresmount Funeral Home has been part of the fabric of Hamilton Mountain.

Our story began in 1954 when local funeral director Murray Cooke recognized the growing need for a funeral home on the Mountain. As Hamilton’s neighbourhoods expanded and families put down roots, Cresmount became a trusted place of comfort, support, and care during life’s most difficult moments.

Over the decades, Cresmount evolved alongside our community. From the original Fennell Avenue location to the addition of a larger chapel, family reception facilities, and the Upper James Chapel, our commitment has always remained the same: serving Hamilton families with compassion, dignity, and respect.

In 2016, the Upper James Chapel was amalgamated into our Fennell Avenue location, bringing generations of families, memories, and traditions together under one roof. This allowed us to continue growing while preserving the personalized service that has defined Cresmount for decades.

Today, more than seven decades later, we are honoured to continue that tradition. While much has changed in Hamilton since 1954, one thing has remained constant—the privilege of helping families celebrate lives, share memories, and find support when they need it most.

And after all these years, we still get asked about the missing “T”—it’s Cresmount, not Crestmount!

We are proud to partner with ACTS Community Worship Center as a donation drop-off location for humanitarian goods being sent to Jamaica to aid in relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
