Are you unsure about starting therapy? Sam can help make that first step feel possible.

We are so excited to introduce Sam Carey, one of our Associate Therapists now accepting new clients! Sam loves working with people starting therapy for the first time. He understands the stigma people face when they are pursuing mental health care and he actively works to create a space where you feel welcome, accepted, and supported at all times. Sam works with a variety of concerns including (but not limited to) life transitions, men’s mental health, substance use, self-esteem, anxiety, mild-moderate depression, anger, grief, emotional awareness, and communication skills. No matter what you are focusing on, Sam brings a refreshing authenticity and genuineness to his work that helps make therapy feel approachable, productive, and meaningful.

If you think Sam would be a good fit for you, please reach out through the link in our bio to set up a free 15-minute consult call with him to learn more about his services and how he can help you. ☺️🪴

Are you looking for a warm and safe space to heal? Look no further than Nav.

We are so honoured to introduce Nav Sahota-Sestini, one of our Associate Therapists now accepting new clients! Nav is a skilled clinician as well as a proud mom and South Asian woman. Nav loves working with women throughout their perinatal journey, with other South Asian women and people of colour, with people navigating the intricacies of settling in a new culture or country, and with people who want to heal from intergenerational, attachment-based, or gender-based trauma. Nav takes a person-centered and attachment-based approach, drawing from her own life experiences to inform her work while still being mindful to center you and your journey. She is compassionate and attentive, and prides herself on being able to create a safe place for people who are not always granted safety and understanding within our systems.

If you think Nav would be a good fit for you, please reach out through the link in our bio to set up a free 15-minute consult call with her to learn more about her services and how she can help you. 😊🌷

Today is National Day of Truth and Reconcilation. Residential schools have left a lasting impact all across Turtle Island/Canada at individual, community, and ecological levels. In our western view, trauma is often framed as an individual problem, when at its root trauma is a sign that we as a society failed to create a system that makes people feel holistically supported through the darkest events. The fact that the trauma of residential schools and colonization is still so evident in our community is a sign that we as a community have not stepped up and supported Indigenous peoples the way that they deserve to be, and need to be, supported. Today is a powerful day of recognizing just how deep that impact runs and standing in solidarity with Indigenous communities as they reclaim and celebrate their culture.

In honour of today, we wanted to highlight some low-cost/free options in our local community to help support Indigenous wellness:
-De dwa da dehs nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre : A centre that offers many services for physical, mental, cultural, and spiritual wellness.
-: A centre focused on providing urban Indigenous peoples resources and programs to empower Indigienous individuals to live a holistically balanced life.
-NIHB: This program offers free therapy with approved providers to anyone with a status card.
-Indigenous Pathways at the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program: A collaboration between St. Joes OSP program and De dwa da dehs nye>s that offers free therapy for Indigenous individuals - we will update this post with the application process for this soon!
-Hopeforwellness.ca: This is a crisis line specifically for indigenous individuals that offers services in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut.

For everyone, we also really wanted to highlight Coalition of Hamilton Indigenous Leadership which is an amazing collaborative of Indigenous groups that is creating and advocating for a vision of Hamilton that does holistically support all Indigenous peoples.

Happy Birthday to us! 🥳🥳🥳

Today officially marks one whole year since we opened our doors! This past year has been indescribable. We have no words for how much it has meant to us to be able to meet and help so many incredible people. To all of our clients (past, present, and future), thank you for trusting us and letting us be a part of your healing journey. It has been such an honour to get to know each of you individually and to learn and grow alongside you.
To all of our peers in the community, thank you for welcoming us into the Hamilton community with such kindness. This work can be so isolating, but having met all of you we have never once felt alone in this path!

Paper Crane Psychotherapy Services has been a labour of love and we are just so grateful for everything the last year has brought and all the lessons we have learned. We cannot wait to continue to be a vibrant part of your Hamilton therapy community for many more years to come! 🤗💕

Hello! I am so excited to share Paper Crane Psychotherapy Services with you all today! For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Grace MacAskill and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I have been passionate about mental health my entire life and to finally be at a place where I can professionally help people overcome their mental health struggles is a dream come true! I know not everyone has a great first interaction with the mental healthcare system (I definitely didn’t!) but I hope that I can provide a safe and welcoming place for people at any stage of their healing journey.

With Paper Crane Psychotherapy Services I strive to provide care aligned with my values: accessible, evidence based, and person-centered. You can read more about these on my website (papercranetherapy.com) or stay tuned for some of our future instagram posts where we’ll dive into them a little deeper!

If you are looking for support and would like to connect, please send us an email at [email protected] - we are currently accepting clients (in Ontario) for virtual and in-person sessions.

It is so nice to meet you all, and I am so excited to start this journey with you. 🤗
