An exciting milestone is here for Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice!

Starting this week, perimeter fencing will be installed as crews secure and prepare the site for the next phase of construction.

Site preparation will continue through August and September, including work to level the ground and install underground services. Geothermal and foundation work is expected to follow later this fall.

To help reduce the impact on the neighbourhood, contractors will park within the fenced site, keep local streets and shared access routes clear and carpool from off-site locations where possible.

Each step brings us closer to creating a place where children with serious illnesses and their families can access specialized hospice care, respite and support closer to home, and spend more meaningful time together.

At just four years old, my son Keaton was diagnosed with stage 4 Rhabdomyosarcoma. On December 4, 2010, he died in our arms, not at home, but in a hospital room.

Since then, I’ve dreamed of something better for families like mine.
A place where children with serious illness can spend their final days, months or even years surrounded by the people who love them most.

A place where families have time to be together, to hold each other close and to make meaningful memories.

Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice is that dream.

Families caring for a child with a serious and life-limiting illness should have care options close to home.

Danielle spoke with CHCH Morning Live today about Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice, and how it will help meet that need in our region. 💛

Being built in Dundas through Kemp Care Network, Keaton’s House will be a 10-bed pediatric hospice offering respite, end-of-life care, pain and symptom management, and grief and bereavement support.

But at the heart of it, Keaton’s House is about giving families a place that feels more like home. A place where children can receive specialized care, and families can rest, play, be together and make the most of their time.

With the next phase of construction moving forward, we’re getting closer to opening the doors for families across our region.
