🐝 A hum. A pause within.

Meet Bhramari pranayama—the bumble bee breath. Rooted in the yogic tradition, this practice combines a gentle breath with a steady, bee-like hum, inviting our attention inward.

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika describes Bhramari in connection with inner joy. Today, researchers are exploring its physiology: a small trial found changes consistent with greater “rest and digest” activity, while a separate humming study measured increased nasal nitric oxide.

Traditional wisdom with a practice to experience,
while modern science offers insights into its benefits.

Swipe for a gentle introduction. Keep your breath comfortable, without holding or forcing.

WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY | September 10

Every life is precious. Every heart deserves to be heard. And no one should have to carry their pain alone.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar reminds us that each moment is the start of a new life. Problems will be there in life, but you are bigger than the problem. In moments when life feels overwhelming, what we most need is not judgement, but connection, someone who will listen, someone who will care, someone who will simply be there.

Gurudev encourages us to reach out to those around us. When we see someone struggling, He says “Let us not just walk past them. A conversation, a compassionate presence, a few moments of genuine human connection can bring hope where there seemed to be none.”

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, let us make a simple commitment: to notice, to listen, to reach out, and to remind one another that no difficult moment is the whole of life. There is always hope beyond this moment. There is always help. There is always someone who cares.

If you or someone you know is thinking about su***de in Canada, call or text 9-8-8 for the Su***de Crisis Helpline, available 24/7.

With compassion and a commitment to a happier, healthier and more peaceful society, Art of Living Canada 🧡🙌🏼

3 lessons we can learn from Makar Sankranti:

#1 No celebration without sharing!
Makar Sankranti is harvest season in India. When there is harvest, the first crop you get, you share with everyone! Celebration cannot happen without sharing.

#2 Celebration comes with wisdom
In India, every celebration is linked with some wisdom. That’s the beauty here. In Maharashtra, they exchange sesame seed and jaggery balls and say, ‘tilgud ghya, gode gode bola,’ which means, “you have this, and let sweet words come out of you.”

#3 Harsh winter always makes way for pleasant sunshine
This is the time that marks the end of the harsh winter, and the beginning of a time of pleasant sunshine! So we celebrate that.

-Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankarji

Ever wondered why in India, kings, ancient sages, and even the common men sat cross-legged while eating?

Benefits of sukhasana:

Stomach: When we overeat, more digestive juices are secreted which could cause acidity. The size of the stomach naturally reduces to half when we’re sitting cross-legged on the floor and this pose facilitates proper digestion.

Posture: Sukhasana makes it easier to sit with a straight back as opposed to slouching on a chair or sofa. A slouch will also bend and twist the abdominal areas while a straight back helps the stomach.

Heart: When we sit on a chair, more blood flows to our legs as they are at a lower level than the heart. The heart, in turn, needs to pump harder to maintain steady blood flow. When we’re sitting cross-legged, there is a better circulation of blood.

Knees and hips: Sukhasana keeps the joints lubricated, adding to the body’s flexibility. This makes the body more supple & less prone to injuries as well as degenerative diseases like arthritis & osteoporosis.

Calm mind: Sitting in sukhasana calms the mind and relaxes the breathing. Unsurprisingly, a calm mind helps in making the right food choices & deciding when to say no to extra quantities.

6 Tips to experience deeper
( Inspired by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankarji talks)
You may have been practicing meditation regularly but have you noticed that at times, when you sit to meditate, your mind seems to take get tangled in your world of thoughts? Learning how to meditate is the first step, however, to have deeper experiences in meditation, you need to learn more ways. Following these 6 tips can help you make your meditation deeper.

1 Bring a smile to another face

Extending a hand of help to those in need is always a satisfying feeling. When you reach out to people who need that help or assistance, then you feel happy and a burst of positive energy happens within you. The reason for this expansion of the Self is because when you do service and bring a smile to someone’s face, good vibrations and blessings come to you.

Service also brings merit and it is this merit that allows you to have a deeper experience in meditation.

2 Experience the sound of silence

Whenever you see a sunrise, with your gaze fixed at the vast, serene sky, observe how you feel the deep silence within, oneness with the rising sun and serenity of the early morning. These few moments of stillness and silence immersed in the beauty without you beyond words, to the beauty within.

This happens because in silence, there are fewer thoughts and your mind settles down. Most of the times, the mind is busy in a chatter and our senses are busy collecting information and bombarding us with so many thoughts and impressions.

Silence complements meditation. When you are silent, your mind slows down and you slip into deep meditation more easily. An easy way to experience silence and meditation together is the Art of Living Part-2 program.

3 Pamper your body with some yoga twists

Have you observed that some days you feel very restless during your meditation and are unable to go deeper? This is because long working hours bring stiffness to the body and aches, which make you restless. Doing some yoga asanas can free you from this stiffness and release restlessness. With this, your mind settles down and allows you to have a deeper experience in meditation.

4 Watch what you eat

Think about the days you have meditated after having oily, fried, non-vegetarian food and the days you meditated after having light and healthy food. If you observe, there is a difference in the quality of your meditation. It is because your food has a direct impact on the state of your mind.

As a meditator, an ideal diet should include grains, green vegetables, fresh fruits, salads, soups, etc., essentially foods that are light and easy to digest and high in prana (life force).

5 Sing to yourself

It is a known fact that different types of music trigger different emotions. We are made up of approximately 90% of space, so sound has a profound effect on us. Singing in satsangs (spiritual gatherings) purifies emotions and you feel a sense of expansion in you. The ‘little mind’ that chatters incessantly is silenced and when you meditate, you have a deeper experience.

Know more about how music can lead you into a deep meditation experience.

6 Fix your daily meditation time

Keeping a discipline and honoring the practice are keys to having a deeper experience in meditation. Regularly meditating every day at a fixed time can unravel the magic of going deeper into meditation.

🌸Practicing meditation regularly alleviates you from stress-related problems, deeply relaxes the mind and rejuvenates the system. The Art of Living’s Sahaj Samadhi Meditation is a specially crafted program to help you tap into your unlimited potential by diving deep within yourself.
