📣 WELCOME TO THE TEAM, DR. RYAN KELLY!

Hamilton Orthopaedic Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Ryan Kelly, a Physiatrist and Sports Medicine physician, to our team! 👏

Dr. Kelly completed his medical degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland, followed by his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at McMaster University. He also completed a fellowship in Sport & Exercise Medicine and is a Diplomate of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.

His clinical interests include musculoskeletal pain and injuries, sports injuries, arthritis, soft tissue injuries, and peripheral nerve injuries. Dr. Kelly also specializes in ultrasound-guided procedures, including cortisone, hyaluronic acid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and prolotherapy injections, as well as bracing and orthotics counselling.

In addition to his work at HOI, Dr. Kelly serves as a consultant physiatrist at the Regional Rehabilitation Centre, where he works with patients who have sustained acquired brain injuries, ranging from concussions to severe brain injuries.

We look forward to having Dr. Kelly join our team and provide specialized care to our community!

📣 WELCOME TO THE TEAM, DR. MONIKA BILIC!

Hamilton Orthopaedic Institute is pleased to welcome Dr. Monika Bilic, a Sport and Exercise Medicine physician, to our team! 👏

Dr. Bilic completed her medical training at McMaster University, including medical school, residency in Emergency Medicine, and a fellowship in Sport and Exercise Medicine. She is also a member of the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine.

Her clinical practice focuses on the assessment and management of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injuries and arthritis. Dr. Bilic takes a patient-centred approach to helping individuals restore function, improve mobility, and return to the activities that matter to them.

She is also trained in ultrasound-guided procedures and injections, including corticosteroid, viscosupplementation (hyaluronic acid), and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Bilic works with Hamilton’s Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) team and practises emergency medicine in Hamilton and Mississauga.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Bilic to HOI and look forward to having her provide specialized sport and exercise medicine care to our community!

OI was on location for a Hang Bar Competition, challenging fans to see how long they could hold on for the chance to win an HOI prize pack. 💪🔥

👋 Meet Lucas Melchiorre, Physiotherapist at our Niagara Orthopaedic Institute location!

Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Lucas is excited to return to his hometown and provide patient-centered physiotherapy to the local community. 🏡

Lucas completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy at D’Youville University in 2026, following his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Kinesiology from Brock University, where he graduated with First-Class Standing.

With a background in soccer, Lucas has a strong interest in working with both general and athletic populations. His approach focuses on restoring function, optimizing performance, and helping patients safely return to the activities they enjoy. ⚽

Lucas also holds Shift Concussion Management Level 1 & 2 certifications and is committed to continuing to expand his knowledge across all areas of physiotherapy.

When he’s not in the clinic, Lucas enjoys staying active, following Inter Milan, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music—especially Bruce Springsteen. 🎶

👋 Meet Adam Cupola, Physiotherapy Assistant at our Niagara Orthopaedic Institute location!

Adam completed his Master of Professional Kinesiology at Brock University in 2026, following his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. During his time at Brock, Adam gained valuable experience as a student strength and conditioning coach with Brock Sports Performance, working with the varsity wrestling team. 💪

His background also includes experience in personal training, orthotics, and gait mechanics, where he developed knowledge in exercise physiology, bracing, footwear, and custom orthotic solutions for lower extremity injuries.

Adam enjoys helping patients through their rehabilitation and supporting them as they work toward returning to their sport, activities, and everyday life. 🏃‍♂️

Outside of the clinic, you’ll find Adam in the gym or playing just about any sport you can think of—although he admits golf tips may not be his specialty! ⛳😂 He also enjoys exploring different cities, checking out their unique vibes, people, and ballparks. ⚾

We’re excited to have Adam as part of the NOI team! 👏
