We had the honour of welcoming 2007 Canadian Idol winner Brian Melo for an incredible performance.

We’re so fortunate to have this connection through his Nonna Connie, and we’re grateful he shared his talent with our Village. Residents and team members loved every minute of the show, and were thrilled to snap photos with Brian and even have them sign their uniform lol.

Thank you, Brian, for a great afternoon. We can’t wait to welcome you back in December!

On Friday, we had a wonderful time at our Green Bench event at the Hamilton Farmers' Market!

The conversations were warm, meaningful, and filled with connection. It was so special to meet members of the community who stopped by to chat, ask thoughtful questions, and hear the incredible wisdom and life experiences shared by our elders.

A special thank you to the Hamilton Police Service and the City of Hamilton Youth group for taking the time to stop by and join the conversation.

A heartfelt thank you to Denise, Karen, Pauline, and Susan for spending the day on the Green Bench. Your kindness, stories, and advice made this event truly memorable and reminded us all of the value of bringing generations together.

Is there anything cuter than a baby duck? We don’t think so!

Our newest little residents have hatched and are bringing so much joy to everyone in long-term care. Their tiny waddles and sweet peeps have been putting smiles on the faces of residents, families, and team members alike.

Be sure to stop by and visit these three adorable ducklings before they head back to the farm on Wednesday. You won’t want to miss out! Thank you Rent The Chicken for another great experience!

🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day from Wentworth Heights!

What better way to celebrate our beautiful country than with our incredible residents, team members, families, and volunteers!

We kicked off the day with an amazing musical performance by Cheryl Dickson (), followed by a delicious BBQ and a fun-filled carnival packed with games, prizes, tasty treats, and plenty of laughter.

Although we had to move the festivities indoors due to the high heat, it didn’t stop us from having an incredible time together! A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this special day to life and to all who joined us for a day full of joy, connection, and Canadian pride.

⚾️ Take Me Out to the Ball Game! ⚾️

On Sunday, a group of our long-term care residents enjoyed an exciting day at the ballpark cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays. While the game had us on the edge of our seats and didn’t seem to be going in our favour for much of the afternoon, the Blue Jays rallied for the win in the end!

The outing was made even more special for our resident Reno, who at 102 years old attended the game alongside four generations of family.

The fun didn’t stop at the stadium — residents were also thrilled to see Team Bosnia and Herzegovina’s football team bus being escorted through Toronto for the World Cup. A memorable day filled with excitement, surprises, and a Blue Jays victory! Go Blue Jays!

Friday night at Carmen’s Event Centre, we had the honour of celebrating our incredible team at the 2026 Team Appreciation Dinner — an evening filled with gratitude, laughter, connection, and plenty of Island Vibes! 🌴☀️

Just like the bright colours of our tropical theme, our Village shines because of the unique talents, personalities, and contributions of every team member. Together, we create a vibrant community where residents, families, and team members feel a true sense of belonging.

We were proud to recognize team members celebrating milestone anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, and 25 years of dedicated service with Schlegel Villages. Your loyalty, passion, and commitment help make our Village the special place it is today.

Yesterday marked the kickoff of our Summer BBQ season, and Mother Nature couldn’t have provided more perfect weather! ☀️🍔

Residents gathered outdoors to enjoy delicious burgers fresh off the grill, pasta salad, chips, pop, and beer, followed by refreshing ice cream bars for dessert. It was wonderful to see residents from all neighbourhoods coming together, soaking up the sunshine, sharing conversations, and enjoying a beautiful afternoon outdoors.

We’re already looking forward to our next BBQ on June 18th! 🌭☀️

On Thursday, we proudly celebrated World Day for Cultural Diversity. A day that recognizes the importance of embracing different cultures, fostering inclusion, and promoting understanding and respect among people from all backgrounds. At Schlegel Villages, we believe that diversity makes our community stronger, richer, and more connected.

Our Village came together with culture, flavour, and enthusiasm for something truly special — our annual Culture Fest on Main Street!

Residents, team members, and family members proudly shared their heritage through delicious food, vibrant music, educational displays, and meaningful cultural symbols. It was a heartwarming day filled with inclusion, respect, learning, and celebration of the unique identities that make our Village so special.

Together, we raised an incredible $1,875 for our Team Member Compassion Fund; a fund that supports team members in times of need. This event reminded us just how strong and connected we are when we celebrate what makes each of us unique.

Thank you to everyone who participated, whether you shared your culture, volunteered on your day off, enjoyed the delicious food, or helped make this event such a success.
