Dear new Girl Guides,

Hi! 👋

If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're about to start your Girl Guides adventure… and I couldn't be more excited for you!

I know starting something new can feel like a mix of excitement and butterflies. You might be wondering:

Will I make friends?
What if I don't know anyone?
What if I've never been camping or tried any of the activities before?

Here's the truth: you don't have to have it all figured out.
None of us did when we started, not even me!

Girl Guides isn't about being the loudest, the bravest, or the most outdoorsy person in the room. It's about showing up exactly as you are.

Some days you'll build something amazing. Some days you'll laugh until your cheeks hurt. You might discover a new hobby, learn a skill you never thought you'd enjoy, or surprise yourself by doing something that feels impossible now.

One of my favourite things about Girl Guides is that everyone belongs. Whether you love science, art, hiking, music, coding, crafts, sports, or you're still figuring out what you love, there's a place for you here.
You're going to meet other girls and youth who cheer you on, volunteers who believe in you, and friends who might just become some of your favourite people.

And if I’m lucky, you’ll get to meet me!

So bring your curiosity, your questions and your big ideas. Bring your whole self.

Because Girl Guides isn't about becoming someone else. It's about discovering just how amazing you already are.

UPDATE - May 25, 2026
Hanna RCMP have identified and arrested an individual in the May 20, 2026 incident where a suspect was seen looking into the window of a home.
The individual was released on strict conditions with monitoring and charges are pending in the matter.
An update with more information will be provided once the suspect has been formally charged.

𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗖𝗠𝗣 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁

On May 20, 2026, around 11:50 p.m., Hanna RCMP were informed that someone had been trespassing at a residence on 5 avenue in Hanna. RCMP arrived on scene but the suspect had fled the scene. Review of the security footage showed the suspect near the front door and looking into the windows of the house. A similar incident was reported at a residence on 6 avenue on May 4, 2026. Pictures of the suspect were extracted from the security footage.

Hanna RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in relation to this incident. Anyone with information or who recognizes the person in the photos is asked to contact the Hanna RCMP at 403-854-3393. The True Awards celebrate caring, forward-looking Albertans who are working to break down stigma, help those living with mental health or addiction concerns, and make our province a stronger and more inclusive place to be.

This year, we co-presented The True Awards with The Lieutenant Governor’s Circle on Mental Health and Addiction.
