Forever Missed ~ Patrick Michael Schultz
1971~2026, Lived 54 Years
Obituary ~ Patrick Michael Schultz of Hanna, Alberta, passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 54.

Born on September 2, 1971, at the Hanna Hospital, Patrick was known from an early age for his gentle, kind, and creative spirit. As he grew, it became clear that he had a unique ability to bring ideas to life, paired with a deep passion for the things that interested him. He carried a natural curiosity and creativity that stayed with him throughout his life.

Patrick was known for his sarcastic sense of humour, his easygoing personality, and his ability to connect with people in a meaningful way. While he could be quiet at first, those who took the time to know him experienced his engaging and talkative nature. He had a way of making conversations memorable, often blending humour with sincerity. He was a loyal and generous friend who genuinely cared about the people in his life and built strong, lasting relationships.

Music was a defining part of Patrick’s life. He developed a lifelong passion for rock and roll and immersed himself in it from a young age. He took lessons early on from Mike O’Harrow and then spent countless hours teaching himself to play electric and acoustic guitar, eventually adding bass to his repertoire. Over the years, he played in multiple bands and remained closely connected to the local music scene. His passion extended beyond performance into music production, where he worked with various artists and projects. He took great pride in his creative work, and his recordings stand as a lasting reflection of his talent and dedication.
Patrick built a diverse and hardworking career over the years. He began working at a young age in Hanna, taking on roles at Samnani’s Grocery Store and the Hanna Inn before transitioning into a long-standing position with Home Hardware. He later moved to Calgary, where he worked at Sears and Windsor Plywood, gaining experience and continuing to develop his skills. His commitment to learning and growth also led him to Vancouver, where he attended the Trebas Institute of Recording Arts, further pursuing his passion for music.

After returning to Hanna, Patrick continued to build his career and remained a dedicated member of the workforce. He worked as a Site Supervisor at the Hanna Waste Transfer Site and later joined Hanna Building Supplies, which became Co-op Building Supplies. In these roles, Patrick was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service. He took pride in helping others, always making sure customers felt supported and that their needs were met. He built meaningful relationships with colleagues and customers alike and became someone people trusted and relied upon.

Outside of work, Patrick had many interests that brought him joy. He loved animals and had a special connection with them throughout his life. He also enjoyed traveling and sharing experiences with those close to him, creating lasting memories along the way. In recent years, he became actively involved with the Hanna and District Gun Club and the Alberta Federation of Shooting Sports, where he served as a Range Safety Officer. He took pride in his skill and discipline and was known as an excellent marksman.

Patrick’s life was filled with memorable moments and adventures. From his early experiences living abroad as a baby to traveling across North America, attending concerts, and sharing road trips with friends and family, he embraced life in his own way. He had a passion for live music and was always eager to plan the next concert or experience. Those who spent time with him will remember the stories he shared—often with humour, detail, and a unique perspective that was entirely his own.

Family was important to Patrick, and he held a special place in his heart for his niece and nephews, as well as the many extended family members and friends who were part of his life. He valued connection, even if he expressed it in his own quiet way, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Patrick is survived by his mother, Janet Donald-Lowther; his stepfather, Ron Lowther; and his father, Pat Schultz. He leaves behind his brother Kyle (Brenda) Schultz and their children Ava, Carson, and Reid; his sister Jennis Ernst and her children Skylar, Gavin, Liam, and Vance; and his younger brother Aaron Ernst. He is also lovingly remembered by his friend and former partner, Nicole Sanden.

He is also remembered by his step-siblings: Lisa Cosens (Alissa and Derek), Colleen (David) Pennington, Maureen (Thomas) Behl, Joe (Jenelle) Lowther, Ronnie Lowther, and David (Camille) Lowther, along with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who were like family to him.

Patrick was predeceased by his grandparents, several uncles, his stepmother Brenda Schultz, and many dear friends.

Patrick will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. His laughter, kind heart, and his love for music, travel, and life will remain a lasting legacy.

Forever in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hanna Community Centre.

If desired, donations in Patrick's memory may be made toward funeral expenses through a trust fund at Hanna ATB or by contacting Hanna Funeral Services.
