It's not the type of therapy that's important, it's the relationship created during therapy

In a report out of BYU, it has been stated that it isn't the therapeutic modality that counts as much as the relationship created during therapy. I practice different modalities, but I consistently find that it's the connection made with the client that has the biggest impact. It's referred to as the "Therapeutic relationship". You know that feeling of awkwardness during session, yah, that's your instinct telling you this isn't a good fit. Don't ignore that feeling. Listen to it, when you find the right connection, your therapeutic experience will be much more rewarding and results will follow.
