MEET THE TEAM!

Leanne graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences degree with Distinction in 2002 and a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2004. LET'S GO BLUE JAYS 💙

On Wednesday our staff traded the clinic for the ballpark to watch the Blue Jays take on the Miami Marlins. It was a day full of cheering, laughing, and carpool karaoke. What a fun day and a fun group of people!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and at Hanover Physiotherapy and Sports Rehabilitation we are committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness.

In Canada, 1 in 5 individuals experience mental illness with youth ages 15-24 being the most at risk age group. Mental health and illness are complex and are influenced by biological, environmental and personal factors. Having a better understanding of mental illness can help us break the stigma.

Research has proven that engaging in any amount of physical activity can have a positive impact on your mental health, including but not limited to; reduced levels of stress, higher levels of self-efficacy, and improved sleep and energy levels.

The Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines recommend engaging in moderate to vigourous aerobic activity for 150 minutes per week. Activities may include swimming, walking, jogging, heavier household work, or involvement in recreational sports! Find something that suits your lifestyle and you enjoy!

If you'd like to learn more about mental health or how to support someone with a mental illness, the Canadian Mental Health Association and Canadian Psychological Association have more information on their pages. Local resources are also linked below for anyone looking for support, programs or want to learn how to become more involved in your community.
