🌿 Mindful Garden Tasks - August in Ontario
August is a month of gratitude.
The garden is overflowing with tomatoes, herbs, beans, berries, and flowers. It has quietly nourished us all summer, and now it invites us to slow down, harvest its gifts, and care for it in return.
🍅This month, preserve what you've grown. Learn an old skill like drying herbs, fermenting vegetables, or canning tomatoes. Sow a few seeds for autumn and winter harvests, feed your soil with fresh compost, and take a gentle walk through your garden each day to notice what needs your care.
🦇As daylight slowly shortens, evenings become especially beautiful. Gather around a bonfire, listen to the orchestra of crickets, watch bats dance across the twilight sky, and if you're lucky, discover monarch caterpillars on your milkweed or hummingbirds visiting late summer blooms.
August reminds us that gardening isn't only about growing.
It's also about giving back.
As we receive the abundance of the season, we care for the soil, the wildlife, and the future harvests that are already beginning. August is not the end of the season, it's the quiet beginning of a new one.
