As the veil begins to thin, we enter the season of Samhain and take some time to honor our ancestors and those who walked before us. Together, we will remember, release what we are ready to leave behind, and look within to discover what is ready to emerge.

Join us for an evening of connection, reflection, and seasonal ritual as we honor what was, embrace where we are, and make space for what is still to come.

Relationships anyone?

I chose to schedule this part of the series at this time, due to the upcoming holiday season... And how often our relationship skills get put to the test during this time.

And. As a human that works from a relational lens, I know we ALL could use dedicated space to build up our relational intelligence skills. Relationships are at the heart of our animal existence, and getting to be more effective in them can really increase the quality of our lives.

This introductory workshop combines Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills and art experientials for comprehensive, ‘bottom-up’ learning.

It is offered in a four-part series, with no prerequisites to register for any of the series parts; take one, take a few, or take all four. Each part is four weeks from 5:30pm-7:30pm PT.

Part Two: Interpersonal effectiveness - Nov. 17th-Dec. 8th, 2026

In this four-week intensive, you will explore and experience Interpersonal Effectiveness skills of DBT through art and reflections. These skills assist in understanding, building, and maintaining healthy relationships in all parts of life. They enable us to resolve conflict when it occurs and get our and others’ relational needs met effectively in a balanced manner.

Women need their stories told, and all survivors will see themselves in this even when the details are different.

We are silenced before we even know what to say. And when we finally find our voice again (in the book, it is art that brings her back to herself) - we face the disbelief, the invalidation, the dismissals...

The Women Cursed workshop on November 21st will delve deeper into this curse energy and lead a ritual on breaking it for each of us. 🔥 Limited spots still available!

Today's A Mighty Girl Community Pick is in honor of Banned Books Week: "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. On the last night of summer before her first year of high school, fourteen-year-old Melinda Sordino went to an older students' party in the woods and was r***d by an upperclassman named Andy Evans. Terrified, confused, and unable to describe what had just happened to her, Melinda called the police -- but when the officers arrived, she could not bring herself to tell them why. The call broke up the party, got dozens of her classmates in trouble, and marked Melinda, for the entire school year that followed, as the freshman who ratted. By the first day of ninth grade, her former best friends have cut her off, no one will sit with her at lunch, and Melinda has stopped speaking almost entirely.

Over the course of the school year, Melinda retreats further into her silence -- hiding during the day in a boarded-up janitor's closet, stopping speaking at the dinner table, barely participating in class -- and slowly, with the quiet encouragement of an art teacher who notices her, begins to find her way back to her own voice. Published in 1999, "Speak" was a finalist for the National Book Award, named a Michael L. Printz Honor Book, translated into thirty-five languages, and adapted into both a film starring Kristen Stewart and a graphic novel illustrated by Eisner Award winner Emily Carroll. It has also been one of the most relentlessly challenged books in American schools since the day it was published, banned over the years for its honest depiction of sexual assault, for Melinda's grief and anger, and for what one censor's complaint called a "bias against male students."

In the past school year, 27 years after it first appeared, "Speak" was the second-most-banned book in American schools, pulled from the shelves of 23 school districts in a year that broke every previous record for book banning. That it continues to be fought over is, in many ways, the clearest proof of how much it still matters -- for the teens who need to know they are not alone, and for the parents, teachers, and classmates who need to recognize what the Melindas in their own lives are trying to say. Highly recommended for ages 14 and up.

"Speak" is available at https://bookshop.org/a/8011/9781250302359 (Bookshop) and https://amzn.to/4hNDnff (Amazon)

For Laurie Halse Anderson's memoir in verse, written twenty years after "Speak" and bringing together her own story of childhood sexual assault, the long work of healing, and her years of reading letters from survivors who found their own voice through Melinda's, we recommend "SHOUT" for teens and adults at https://www.amightygirl.com/shout

For the Eisner Award-nominated graphic novel adaptation of "Speak," we recommend "Speak: The Graphic Novel" for ages 14 and up at https://www.amightygirl.com/speak-the-graphic-novel

If you know a teen girl struggling after sexual abuse or trauma, “The Sexual Trauma Workbook for Teen Girls: A Guide to Recovery from Sexual Assault and Abuse” may help at https://www.amightygirl.com/sexual-trauma-workbook-girls

For several powerful memoirs by young women who survived and courageous spoke out after sexual assault, we highly recommend "Know My Name: A Memoir" (https://www.amightygirl.com/know-my-name), "Notes on a Silencing: A Memoir" (https://www.amightygirl.com/notes-on-a-silencing), and "I Have The Right To" (https://www.amightygirl.com/i-have-the-right-to), recommended for older teens and adults

She's been waiting....

There's been so many times in the last few years where I'd hear Cassandra speak in my spirit ears and I'd ask - now? And the answer was always 'not yet'.

Until now.

It is time to bring Her story forward. To delve into the depths of women's pain - the curse of men behaving badly, choosing to r8pe and violate, and women being dismissed, invalidated, and never believed.

Thousands of years. This spirit is an old, old curse - And.
Women have magic of their own, magic that is older and newer at the same time. When we come together for ourselves and each other - we can break this evil and make Pathways forward that work at composting this system of pain.

For us all.

Journals! 📣👏🏼💫

My journals are some of my most favourite artworks. Creating the art for the covers and then intentionally using an artisan printer in Montreal means the quality -both physically and energetically - is top tier.

These journals are one of the ways I raise funds for the Haven Scholarship, which reduces financial barriers for women in our community and facilitates access to healing and growth that they wouldn't otherwise be able to reach for.

NO ai used (nor will you ever see me knowingly using gen ai in any of my work)

Support human artists.
Support authentic magic
Support women in your community
Support Canadian artisan businesses

The beautiful Dee of will have these at the this weekend!

The Hill of the Witch

The Old Crone of Winter, The Hag, the Cailleach 💫 The Hag's Chair (first image) is prominent and massive to show us Her power.

Loughcrew Megalithic ~ aligned to the Equinox sunrise over 5000 years ago by hands that knew something we have long forgotten...

But I could feel the knowing in my cells, in my Ancestral dna, as I stood there.
As I gently brushed my hands over those familiar designs carved into the ancient stone... Listening with much more than my ears.

The circles. The spirals. The dots. The Earth Womb and the Serpentine passageways, holding beloved dead.

The way through the Veil to the next Journey has always been down. Inside. Underground. Underworld.

Remembering is half of my life's work.

The other half is being in current relationship with the Powers and the Wisdom I remember and reconnect with.

Time is not pure. Time is not the authority. Time is not linear.

🙏🏼 Blessings upon your remembering and your relating as we tip into the Descent. ✨🍂

Blessings upon the 🍂 Autumn Equinox 🍂 today 🙏🏼✨

The Equinox is a moment in time where we can feel the cosmic balance - the Light and the Dark are of equal length for this moment in time before the great Wheel shifts and we begin our Descent into the Dreamtime.

The sunflowers and the bees always call me at this time of year. They are in their prime dance of reciprocity, each giving and receiving from each other. The balance of 'me AND other' is on display for us to notice.

Then I pulled a card from my beautiful new deck from Naomi Cornock, and here the message was again - harmony through balance. What in my (your) life needs balancing? This was the theme of last night's women's circle.

As I sit with this question today, I am reminded that each threshold is a portal to the next.
What needs to go?
What needs pruning, releasing, decay and rot?
And what do I call into that space to prepare me for the next? The Dreamtime? What Allies, what teachings, what medicine?

Questions to walk with.

May the equal Light and Dark of the Equinox bring you the balance you too are needing 🙏🏼
