When someone we love passes, the last thing a family should have to worry about is whether they can afford to say goodbye.

The average cremation in Canada runs about $3,000 — more than the $2,500 federal death benefit is meant to cover. That gap lands on families at the hardest possible moment.

At Tillwell, aquamation (gentle water cremation) is $1,295, all-inclusive. Below the national average. Below the federal death benefit. Because a dignified farewell shouldn’t depend on what a family can afford — or come at the cost of the land, air and water we all share.

Aquamation uses roughly 90% less energy than flame cremation, and 5% of everything we earn goes back into planting trees right here in Manitoba.

A gentler goodbye — for your family, and for the province we call home. 🌿

In loving memory of Laura Mary Minchin 🕊️

December 22, 1939 – July 8, 2026

Laura's warmth touched everyone around her — from her beloved family to her cherished bingo friends. A devoted mom, mémère, and lifelong Winnipeg Jets fan, she never missed watching Kyle Connor take the ice, and she had a soft spot for The Young and the Restless. 💙

Now reunited with her love, Ralph, Laura leaves behind children, grandchildren, sisters, and countless friends who will hold her close in memory. 🤍

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 16 at 12:30 pm at Saint Ignatius Church, with refreshments to follow.

In loving memory of Andrew Michael McHugh

August 1, 1967 – June 16, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Andrew McHugh of East St. Paul, Manitoba, at the age of 58. Born in Rothbury, England, Andrew built a respected career in construction and, in 2015, a new chapter in Canada alongside his partner, Kathleen. He was strong, quiet, generous, and hardworking, a devoted Newcastle United supporter best enjoyed with a pint of Stella and a good game on.

A Celebration of Andrew’s Life will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Canad Inns Destination Centre Transcona, 826 Regent Avenue West, Winnipeg.

Honouring the life of Simone Couture, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her strength and warmth touched all who knew her. As an elementary school librarian, Simone inspired young minds and cherished every connection. Though her journey was challenging, she embraced life with courage and love.

Join us in celebrating Simone’s vibrant spirit on July 8 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. In lieu of flowers, consider supporting the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Never Alone Cancer Foundation. Let's honor her legacy by caring for our planet and communities. 🌿💚

🌸 In loving memory of Margaret Vinck (Krawchuk) 🌸
April 30, 1961 – May 10, 2026

Margaret was fiercely loving, quick-witted, and unapologetically herself — a mom and grandma who adored her family every single day. Her sudden passing has left a deep ache in the hearts of those who knew her.

In her honour, her family invites you to plant beautiful flowers 🌷, feed the hummingbirds 🐦, and donate to ending homelessness 💛

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kildonan Park on September 12, 2026. Details to follow.

To Nicole, Liam, and the entire family — thank you for trusting Tillwell to walk alongside you during this time. It is our honour to care for Margaret. 🤍

💧Join the Eco-Network and Tillwell for an extra-special Eco-Drinks this June!

💧The next Eco-Drinks will be on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026. Tillwell will be joining us to co-host this event, where we’ll have the opportunity to hear about their aqua cremation service, and their sustainable business model.

💧 Tillwell is Manitoba’s pioneering aquamation provider for people and pets, reimagining end-of-life care with empathy, purpose, and sustainability.

💧They provides humanistic, eco-friendly services for both people and pets. Their offerings include aquamation, biodegradable urns, and tree memorials. They aim to provide sustainable memorial and burial options that honour the natural cycle of life.

💧We host these on the first Wednesday of each month, from 5PM - 7PM at Devil May Care Brewing Company (155-A Fort St., Winnipeg).

💧This is an informal evening of conversations - known as Eco-Drinks - where we invite Manitobans who work in the environmental field (and anyone who cares about ecological issues) to come.

💧Have a drink, meet someone new, and share an evening of good conversation with your community!

Mortality isn’t just a personal matter; it’s a generational one. 🌱

A thought-provoking read on legacy, end-of-life planning, and the conversations we too often put off, and why thinking about death today shapes the world we leave behind tomorrow.

Big thanks to La Liberté for including us in this terrific opportunity, and for telling stories that matter to our communities. 🙏

🕊️ In loving memory

Scott Christopher James Marlow

September 27, 1980 – April 28, 2026

Scott will be remembered for his big heart, his love of animals — especially dogs — and the joy he found spending time with his nieces and nephew. A proud Winnipeg Blue Bombers fan, he treasured time at the family trailer fishing, gathered around campfires, and playing games with the people he loved.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the ANAVETS Unit 283 Assiniboia, 3584 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to an animal shelter or the Humane Society.

To the Marlow family — thank you for entrusting Scott’s care to Tillwell. We are honoured to walk alongside you.
