When I released my first book, I was terrified. There were so many layers of healing to work through but the biggest one were the visibility edges as an Indigenous woman in the publishing world.
Would Indigenous people like my work? (Human urge to belong)
Would anyone care about my voice in the world? (Indigenous invisibility hurt)
Would I be strong enough to navigate the very colonial and capitalistic systems of publishing? (Still figuring this one out)
At that time I met my now dear friend, Kaitlin Curtice who has written 4 adult non-fiction books and 4 children’s books. Kaitlin is a poetic and prophetic voice whose work explores Indigenous identity, spirituality, belonging, and the healing power of story.
Almost every month, we met for a Zoom date and shared from our heart. Kaitlin has become someone who stands as a strong force beside me as we both walk in two worlds and create beautiful medicine.
We are offering a morning retreat on Monday, June 22nd - right after the solstice, for all who wish to share their medicine with the world. If you are a creator, author, healer, visionary or anyone who carries dreams of sharing your gifts, this is for you.
