Breath of the Nuna | WATER 💧
Qalaapik

Water is more than a part of nature—it is a reflection of who we are: deep, powerful, gentle, and full of possibility. For Qalaapik, it represents the beauty and strength found in the world around us.

When asked why blue is her favourite colour, her answer has always been, “You can go as deep as the ocean or as vast as the sky.”

There is something beautiful about that thought, knowing that something can hold so much depth while also feeling so limitless.

Qalaapik has always been drawn to the power of water. The way it can be so calm and peaceful that you find yourself wanting to dive right in. The gentle sound of waves meeting the nuna, almost as though the water is reaching out to touch the land before slipping away again.

But water also carries incredible strength. It can carve its way through rock, reshape the land, and move with a force that is impossible to ignore.

And yet, that same water gives life to so much around us. From the smallest insects and plants to the birds, animals, and sea life that depend on it.

Qalaapik’s connection to water reminds us that strength and gentleness can exist together. That something can be powerful without losing its ability to nurture, and that there is beauty in all the different ways we move through this world.

Like water, we can carry incredible depth, quiet strength, and the ability to give life to the things around us.

💧 There is so much beauty in recognizing that we don’t have to be just one thing. We can be calm, powerful, gentle, and strong, all at once.
