As more people in Oxford County receive their primary care from a Nurse Practitioner, we often hear the question:

"What exactly can a Nurse Practitioner do?"

The short answer? A lot!

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are Registered Nurses with advanced education and clinical training who are licensed to diagnose, treat, prescribe, and manage your health care. In Ontario, they practice independently and are regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario.

An NP can:

✅ Diagnose illnesses and injuries
✅ Order and interpret blood work, X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs, and other diagnostic tests

✅ Refer patients to specialists and other health-care professionals
✅ Complete many medical forms, referrals, and health documentation
✅ Focus on prevention, health education, and helping you stay well-not just treating illness

The care you receive from a Nurse Practitioner is comprehensive, evidence-based, and patient-centred. NPs care for people of all ages and can be your Most Responsible Primary Care Provider, just like a family physician.

Here in Oxford County, Nurse Practitioners are helping improve access to primary care for thousands of residents. They are an essential part of our health-care system and work alongside physicians and other health-care professionals to ensure patients receive the right care, at the right time.

The Oxford County NPLC (formerly Ingersoll) is now accepting new patients at both our Ingersoll clinic (limited capacity) and our future Tillsonburg clinic.

If you....
- live in the Oxford County area,
- Ingersoll and Tillsonburg are close to home for you,
- you currently do not have a primary care provider,
- have recently moved to the Oxford County area and do not have a primary care provider close to your new home

Life jackets are available to be borrowed for two weeks with no renewals. Borrower must be 18 years of age or older. Up to 4 life jackets per account at one time.

This program is supported through collaboration with the Town of Tillsonburg, Lifesaving Society and Tillsonburg Hydro.
