We are excited to welcome Dr Riley Thorpe to the Airdrie and Innisfail Eyecare team!

Dr Riley Thorpe is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba and grew up in West Kelowna, British Columbia. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at the University of British Columbia before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo, graduating with Dean’s Honours.

Dr Thorpe completed his clinical externships in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Saint John, New Brunswick, where he gained experience in dry eye management and comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages.

Having previously played junior hockey in Calgary, Dr Thorpe has enjoyed making Southern Alberta home and is excited to continue serving the community as part of the teams at Airdrie and Innisfail Eyecare Centres.

Outside of optometry, Dr Thorpe enjoys exploring local restaurants, spending time with family, and cheering on his favourite sports teams.

Meet our Doctors.

Dr Amy Forrest, originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo in 2003. Following graduation, Dr Forrest moved to Taber, Alberta where she practiced for nine years before moving to Airdrie in 2012.

Dr Forrest became a partner at the Airdrie and Innisfail Eyecare Centres in 2014 and enjoys the challenge of practicing and managing a large, multi-clinic practice. Dr Forrest has a special interest in glaucoma, ocular trauma and pathology.

Since 2009, Dr Forrest has been a council and/or committee member with the Alberta Association of Optometrists. She also enjoys consulting with eyecare industry partners.

Away from the clinic, Dr Forrest is busy with her husband and their two boys. The family loves to travel and is often found on the ski hill in the winter and boating during the summer.

Meet our Doctors.

Dr Jared Long joined the Airdrie and Innisfail Eyecare Centres in 2003 and has been a managing partner since 2008. He enjoys the challenge of switching between patient care and management of the teams in the clinics.

Dr Long is a 2003 graduate of the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba. While in optometry school, Dr Long completed clinical externships in primary care and ocular disease with optometrists and ophthalmologists in Calgary and Vancouver with a focus on Glaucoma treatment.

Dr Long delights in providing continuing care to both new and existing patients and has developed a special interest in the areas of ocular trauma and pathology with an emphasis on glaucoma management. With many advancements in digital imaging of the eye, such as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and Auto-Fluorescence (AF), he is able to point out and discuss areas of concern, early before vision loss occurs.

Away from the clinic, Dr Long is committed to providing eyecare services to those in need and has participated in projects in rural communities in Jamaica, Malawi and Mexico. He is a member of Canadian Vision Care and the Alberta Association of Optometrists and a director with Canadian Vision Care.

Dr Long grew up on a grain farm in northwest Manitoba and is typically found skiing, hiking, biking and camping in the nearby Rocky Mountains with his family.

Meet our Doctors!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Rebecca Milkovich back from maternity leave.

Dr. Milkovich, native to northern Alberta, was excited to return to the province after graduating with honors from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. She practiced in a rural setting before permanently joining Airdrie and Innisfail Eyecare in 2019.

Dr. Milkovich is thrilled to practice to the fullest scope of optometry in Alberta. She especially enjoys building relationships through routine and emergency practice. She finds it rewarding to create unique and personalized solutions to both patient's visual needs and ocular health concerns. Dr. Milkovich has a special interest in dry eye, myopia control and contact lenses.

When away from the clinic Dr. Milkovich values time with family and friends. Living a balanced, active lifestyle is important to her. She can often be found outside on the pathways, in the mountains, or in the garden.

Dr. Milkovich looks forward to seeing new and returning patients in the clinic.
