You don’t have to navigate healthcare alone. ❤️

Sometimes the hardest part of healthcare isn’t the diagnosis, it’s understanding what comes next.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by appointments, referrals, medical information, treatment decisions, or trying to coordinate your care, you’re not alone.

As a Nurse, I offer Healthcare Navigation & Advocacy to help you better understand your health and move through the healthcare system with confidence.

This service may be right for you if you are:

Preparing for a specialist appointment or surgery

Trying to understand a new diagnosis or treatment plan

Returning home from the hospital

Living with a chronic health condition such as diabetes, neuropathy, arthritis, heart disease, or vascular disease

Supporting an aging parent or loved one

Needing help coordinating appointments, referrals, paperwork, or community resources

Looking for a nurse to attend medical appointments with you (when appropriate), help explain medical information, and support follow-up planning

Simply wanting someone knowledgeable in your corner to answer questions, explain your options, and help you make informed healthcare decisions.

My goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-informed nursing support so you feel more confident, more informed, and never alone on your healthcare journey.

Healthy Aging Series: The Science of Spending Time in Nature

Did you know that spending time in nature may benefit both your mental and physical health?

Research on forest bathing (also known as Shinrin-yoku) suggests that spending time in forest environments can:

🌿 Reduce stress hormones such as cortisol

🌿 Lower blood pressure and heart rate

🌿 Improve mood and feelings of well-being

🌿 Support relaxation by activating the body’s “rest and digest” nervous system

🌿 Temporarily increase the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, an important part of our immune system

Researchers believe these benefits are likely due to a combination of factors, including reduced stress, cleaner air, gentle physical activity, and exposure to naturally occurring compounds released by trees called phytoncides.

While more research is needed to understand the long-term effects on disease prevention, the current evidence supports spending time in nature as a simple, low-cost way to support overall health and well-being.

Sometimes one of the best things we can do for our health is simply slow down and spend time outdoors.

A friendly reminder that Healthcare Appointment Support is one of my signature services.

Over the past while, this has become one of my most valued and frequently requested services.

Navigating today’s healthcare system can be overwhelming. Medical appointments often involve a lot of information, important decisions, and follow-up plans that can be difficult to remember once you get home.

As your Registered Practical Nurse, I can accompany you to healthcare appointments to provide support before, during, and after your visit. Together, we can prepare questions in advance, review important information, take notes during your appointment (if you’d like), discuss your care plan afterward, coordinate follow-up appointments, arrange community or in-home services, assist with transportation planning, and help ensure you leave feeling informed and confident.

This service is beneficial for adults of all ages. Whether you’re attending a specialist appointment, recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, navigating a new diagnosis, or supporting an aging parent, having a trusted healthcare professional by your side can make all the difference.

My goal is simple: to help you better understand your healthcare, feel confident asking questions, and ensure nothing gets missed once you leave the appointment.

If you’d like to learn more about Healthcare Appointment Support, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

💧 Healthy Aging from a Nurse’s Perspective | Tip #1: Hydration Matters

One of the simplest ways to support healthy aging is to stay well hydrated.

As we age, our sense of thirst naturally decreases, which means dehydration can happen before we even realize we’re thirsty.

Staying hydrated helps support energy, balance, digestion, circulation, and brain function. It may also help reduce the risk of dizziness, constipation, and urinary tract infections.

Take a moment to read today’s tip and see if there’s one small change you can make this week. Small, consistent habits often have the biggest impact over time.

If you have an aging parent, grandparent, or friend, feel free to share this post with them. ❤️
