FREE!!!
Akiqanngituit!!!

I have baby bags available for pick up until 5pm. Both for baby girl and baby boy's. I also have Uummati mugs. Attached are pics of the bags and the contents in them, they differ just a little but each bag contains;

A couple handmade with love blankets, baby bottles, a few pampers, bibs, sippy cup, couple of clothing items, little cute shoes, soothers, bath towels, hat, a toy or a handmade crochet doll or animal. I've been dropping these off to boarding home, hospital and public health so I'd like to post what I have remaining to the general public and community 🙂

Please note these are donations from lovely people from the south who have heard about Uummati Perinatal ❤️ from Hearts & Hands in Harmony ❤️

♡♡♡●♡♡♡ ALSO PLEASE DON'T BE GOING THROUGH THE BAG PICKING INDIVIDUAL THINGS, JUST TAKE A BAG! ♡♡♡●♡♡♡

1088 C, I put them on the steps outside.

“… his comfort is valid”

This post rings similar to some work we’ve done over the past few weeks. During the month of August we have been having discussions on babyfeeding as we support and help prepare Rhoda and one of our wonderful doulas, Cynthia on a project they’ve been working on.

One of the points Rhoda made was, while breastfeeding your baby it is important to take the time to smile at them… enjoy their presence… feel their breathing… create a calm environment.

Babyfeeding includes any method of feeding your baby that works for you, your baby and your partner. While there are several methods of baby feeding, one thing remains of great importance - connection with your baby. Your baby’s needs are valid and you are their main source of support. This is an incredible privilege ❤️

Have you been told not to lay with your children as they fall asleep? Me too! Here's why I ignore the advice and continue to lay by my son's side.

A gentle reminder to
Hold Yourself Warmly 💕

In the Traditional Knowledge course, Rhoda shares advice which was passed down from her mother and traditional Inuit midwives before her. Inuit knew that dressing warmly and protecting themselves from the elements while pregnant would encourage and easier delivery of the baby and the placenta.

Last night we made it official✨

Uummati’s Traditional Knowledge Birthing Course went live for our first group of participants! This is the first (but will not be the last!) time we send an immense amount of gratitude to and acknowledge Makiaqta Inuit Training and Tasiuqtigiit Hand in Hand for your support and encouragement to make this happen. Qujannamiik! Thank you!

Another huge thank you to Rhoda and Natsiq of course, for sharing their wisdom from their first hand experiences and pregnancy, birth and postpartum related experiences from their mothers, family and friends ❤️

ᑕᖃᓗᐊᑦᑕᐃᓕᒪᖃᑦᑕᕐᓂᕐᓗ

We’ve said this time and time again and we will continue to post about it to remind even just one person experiencing pregnancy that all we can do is focus on what we can control. We have talked about how remaining stress free specifically can be challenging in this world where you are constantly bombarded with information and events that can disrupt your peace. However, we firmly believe if you try these three things you will develop a baseline of peace in your life during pregnancy that will carry into labour and delivery as well as postpartum.

We know that while the world seems to be in a state of crumbling chaos, we are in control of how we treat others and ourselves. On social media we try to keep things light because the kind of information we promote is rooted in self awareness, community support and simplicity. This is a supportive community that highlights traditional Inuit birthing knowledge passed on by our knowledge keepers.

If you are pregnant and you need support as you attempt to develop good eating habits, motivation to exercise even if it’s just going on a quick walk for some fresh air or to help brainstorm ideas on how to reduce stress please reach out to us at Uummati Perinatal ❤️
