A Milestone Worth Celebrating: 100 Years Young

A century of memories, stories, and wisdom — what an honor it is to share in this celebration with two of our beloved residents. From the world they grew up in to the one they see today, they’ve witnessed history unfold before their eyes.

Please join us in wishing them a very Happy 100th Birthday! 🥳💐

Cent ans de souvenirs précieux, d’histoires captivantes et de sagesse accumulée — quelle joie immense de célébrer cet événement extraordinaire avec deux de nos résidents si chers à notre cœur. Ils ont traversé un siècle d’histoire, voyant le monde se transformer sous leurs yeux, année après année.

🌱 Rien ne vaut la joie de récolter ce que l’on a fait pousser ! Nos résidents ont passé du temps à récolter des légumes frais directement de leur jardin. 🥔

Cette équipe est fière de ce qu’elle a fait pousser. 🥕🍅

🫛 Nothing beats the joy of picking what you’ve grown! Our residents spent some time harvesting fresh veggies straight from their garden.

From Blossom to Harvest at Extendicare Kapuskasing!

This spring, our apple trees were covered in white blossoms. Now, come late summer, it's full of ripe apples ready to pick!
Our residents loved getting outside this week for some fresh air, sunshine, and hand-picking apples right off the tree.

Ce printemps, nos pommiers étaient couverts de fleurs blanches. Maintenant que l’été achève, ils débordent de pommes bien mûres, prêtes à être cueillies!

Cette semaine, nos résidents ont adoré sortir profiter du grand air et du soleil pour cueillir les pommes directement de l’arbre, à la main.

A little something sweet happened — Emma brought in fresh blueberries to share with our residents! 🫐

Served up with cream and sugar, just the way many of them remember enjoying them growing up. Simple moments like these mean so much. Thank you, Emma, for the thoughtful gesture! 💙

A heartfelt thank you to Jennifer from the Kapuskasing Indian Friendship Centre for sharing such a meaningful day of cultural healing with us. 🪶

From smudging to drumming and song, every part of today was a reminder of the strength, resilience, and beauty of Indigenous culture and traditions. Thank you, Jennifer, for your generosity in guiding us through these teachings with such care and openness.

Have you ever tried a deep fried Oreo? Neither had we — until today!

Thanks to the amazing Chantal, our residents and staff got to enjoy these freshly made, golden, gooey treats, and let’s just say… they were a HIT! 😋 Warm, crispy on the outside, melty on the inside — what’s not to love?

A big thank you to Chantal for bringing a little extra sweetness to our day. We can’t wait for the next treat! 🎉🍪

Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

We celebrated in style with temporary tattoos, delicious poutine, fun games, and some fresh air! It was a wonderful day of laughter and community for our residents and staff. Thank you to everyone who made it so special — watch to see the fun! 🍁🎉🇨🇦

La fête du Canada battait son plein ! 🍁
Nos résidents ont profité de la poutine, ont tous eu droit à des tatouages temporaires, ont participé à des jeux en plein air et ont participé aux jeux! Tant de joie, de rires et d’esprit communautaire au rendez-vous — c’est ce qui rend notre foyer si spécial.

As their co-op placement comes to an end, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Andrea and Myra for the time, energy, and compassion they brought to our home.

Over the past few months, they have been wonderful additions to our team—assisting staff, engaging with residents, and contributing to the warm and caring environment. From helping in the dining room and portering residents, to spending one-on-one time, playing games, and participating in daily activities, Andrea and Myra embraced every opportunity to learn and make a difference.

During their placement, they experienced many facets of long-term care, gaining valuable insight into the importance of person-centred care, teamwork, and meaningful connections.

Thank you, Andrea and Myra, for your dedication and enthusiasm.

Aujourd’hui, nous soulignons la fin du stage coopératif d’Andrea et de Myra au sein de notre foyer.

Au cours des derniers mois, elles ont fait preuve de gentillesse, d’enthousiasme et d’un grand désir d’aider. Ce stage leur a permis de découvrir les nombreuses facettes des soins de longue durée et d’approfondir leur compréhension de l’importance des soins centrés sur la personne, du travail d’équipe et des relations significatives qui font toute la différence.
