Here is an example of how our personal sovereignty was taken from us, conditioned right out of existence (often at the hands of people who had their own sovereignty taken from them). 💔
Years later, someone may call you a “people-pleaser,” or a “co-dependent.”
They may even tell you to try setting a boundary — as if reciting from a boundary script could fix this. 😵💫
But this problem isn’t solved through cognitive scripts, pop-psychology, or better mental gymnastics.
The real problem, as this cartoon I drew shows, is about the eradication of the innate boundaries of your being.
And. that. wasn’t. your. fault.
And, in most cases, it probably wasn’t the fault of the people who did it to you, either.
The eradication of our innate boundaries has been a long-game — something done TO the humans, often over many generations and without our knowledge or consent — until we become so well-trained that we began to do it to ourselves without even realizing it. 😭
Why would someone want to run such a horrible long-game on people?
Simple.
(Abusers do this to their victims all the time — the micro is the macro, after all).
To remove your sense of innate boundaries is to remove your sense of personal power. 💔
And if you don’t know how powerful you are, you’ll then cooperate with all sorts of things that you normally wouldn’t agree to.
But you won’t even know that’s what’s happening. 😖
Because you’ve been disconnected from the true voice of your heart and the sovereign power of your being.
So how do we compassionate people break free of this miserable cycle?
The answer might be easier than you think.
Hear me on this: Our world is not supposed to be a selfish one.
Humans are a deeply connective and pro-social species, naturally peaceful and cooperative.
When we are connected to our innate boundaries, that is.
But when we’re not, it can get really awful.
And that brings me to the secret I want you to know.
They NEVER GOT RID OF your innate boundaries.
They simply disconnected you from them, that’s all.
Your innate boundaries are still here, gorgeous and whole.
And you can connect to them — because they are YOURS.
Becoming boundaried is your birthright.
