Day 1, today’s practice is about remembering you're on the same team.
The demands of public safety can impact both partners. PTSD, chronic stress, burnout, shift work, and emotional exhaustion can quietly create distance in a relationship.

Today, don't focus on fixing, focus on understanding.

Tool:
Ask each other:
"What is one thing work has made harder for you this month?"

Then simply listen.
• No fixing.
• No interrupting.
• No defending.

Save this post, send it to your partner, and commit to completing all 20 days together. Small steps lead to meaningful change.

Ready to take the next step? Join our Stronger Together Couples Retreat, September 24–27, 2026, at Iremia Lodge in Lake Country, BC. With only six couples per retreat, you'll receive personalized support in a safe, intimate setting.

Day 19, today’s practice is about goal setting:

Setting clear goals gives us direction and helps turn intentions into meaningful action. Breaking larger goals into smaller, achievable steps makes progress feel more manageable and builds confidence along the way.

Today we practice SMART goal setting.

Tool:
SMART Goals

Set one goal using the SMART framework:
• Specific – What do I want to accomplish?
• Measurable – How will I track my progress?
• Achievable – Is it realistic?
• Relevant – Why does it matter to me?
• Time-bound – When will I achieve it?

Small, consistent steps lead to meaningful change over time.

Day 18, today’s practice is about relationship skills:

Strong relationships are built on more than just communication. They are built on feeling heard, understood, and valued.

Often, when someone is speaking, we are already thinking about what we want to say next. Active listening encourages us to slow down, stay present, and focus on understanding rather than responding. This can reduce misunderstandings and strengthen trust in our relationships.

Counselling helps develop communication skills that improve connection, empathy, and emotional awareness. Learning how to truly listen can have a positive impact on relationships with partners, friends, family members, and colleagues.

Today we practice active listening.

Tool:
Active Listening

When someone shares something important, try paraphrasing what you heard before responding.

For example:
“I've been feeling overwhelmed with everything lately.”

Response:
“It sounds like you've been carrying a lot on your shoulders and feeling stretched pretty thin.”

Paraphrasing helps avoid confusion and shows the other person that you are genuinely listening and trying to understand their experience.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer someone isn't advice. It's helping them feel heard.

Diversified is here for you today and always.💚

Symposium 2026: A Powerful Gathering of Connection, Courage, and Hope 🌿

What an incredible two days at our Symposium 2026, where first responders, military members, family members, mental health professionals, and community leaders came together to explore mental health, resilience, recovery, and operational readiness.

From thought-provoking presentations and honest conversations to inspiring stories of recovery and hope, every session reminded us that healing happens when we come together and support one another.

A few memorable highlights included:
- Powerful presentations from leaders, clinicians, and those with lived experience
- Meaningful discussions on supporting first responders and their families
- Jonathan Williams, our past client, sharing his story through the power of his music
- An emotional moment as RCMP Assistant Commissioner Martin Roach presented a prestigious medal to our Chief Mental Health Officer, Derek Sienko, recognizing his contributions to RCMP members' mental health - a recognition that reflects the dedication of the entire Diversified team
- The opportunity to connect, learn, and grow together in a setting built for healing and reflection

Thank you to our outstanding speakers, panelists, attendees, and Diversified team who made this event such a success.

If you missed our Symposium - presentations' recordings will be available on our website soon:

Planning for Symposium 2027 is already underway! We will announce dates in September. Space is limited, and we encourage early registration as the event will once again be hosted at our beautiful Iremia Lodge, built for healing, overlooking two scenic lakes.

Day 17, today’s practice is about healing the past:

Past experiences have a way of shaping how we think, feel, and respond in the present.

While we can't change what has happened, we can learn to process our experiences in a way that helps us move forward with greater clarity, self-awareness, and resilience. Healing isn't about forgetting the past, it's about understanding it, learning from it, and allowing it to have less control over our present lives.

Counselling provides a safe space to explore past experiences, process difficult emotions, and develop healthier ways of coping. Through this work, many people find greater peace, self-compassion, and the ability to move forward with confidence.

Today we practice journaling.

Tool:
Journal Daily

Take a few moments to reflect on:
"What am I grateful for today?"

Your answers don't need to be big or life-changing.

They might be:
• A meaningful conversation
• A supportive friend
• A quiet moment to yourself
• A lesson you've learned

Gratitude doesn't erase difficult experiences, but it can help us recognize the good that exists alongside them. Small moments of reflection can create powerful shifts in perspective over time.
