Father’s Day can be a strange day.
A day that asks us to celebrate something that, for many of us, is wrapped in complicated feelings.
Some of us are grateful.
Some of us are grieving.
Some of us are healing.
Some of us are still carrying questions that may never have answers.
Today can bring memories of the father who taught you how to ride a bike, cast a fishing line, or change a tire.
It can also bring memories of the father who wasn't there when you needed him, the father who doesn't care if you're alive or dead, hurt or in pain.
It can be a day of honouring, missing, forgiving, remembering, or simply enduring.
It can also be the day where the father remembers the chasm of pain he carries inside his heart.
Whatever Father’s Day means to you, I hope you give yourself permission to feel it honestly.
Not the version that fits on a greeting card.
The real version.
The one that lives in your heart.
And if today feels heavy, may you find a little grace for yourself in the midst of it.
This day is complex for many. Know that you are loved, whatever type of day it is 🦋🌠🩵💙
