Father’s Day can be a strange day.

A day that asks us to celebrate something that, for many of us, is wrapped in complicated feelings.

Some of us are grateful.
Some of us are grieving.
Some of us are healing.
Some of us are still carrying questions that may never have answers.

Today can bring memories of the father who taught you how to ride a bike, cast a fishing line, or change a tire.

It can also bring memories of the father who wasn't there when you needed him, the father who doesn't care if you're alive or dead, hurt or in pain.

It can be a day of honouring, missing, forgiving, remembering, or simply enduring.

It can also be the day where the father remembers the chasm of pain he carries inside his heart.

Whatever Father’s Day means to you, I hope you give yourself permission to feel it honestly.

Not the version that fits on a greeting card.

The real version.

The one that lives in your heart.
And if today feels heavy, may you find a little grace for yourself in the midst of it.

This day is complex for many. Know that you are loved, whatever type of day it is 🦋🌠🩵💙

Recently, someone I love dearly wrote me through the haze of a drunken tirade and told me to "go f**k myself."

More than once.

And for a moment, the old me wanted to explain. Defend. Fix. Earn my way back into their good graces, even though I had done nothing wrong.

The people pleaser in me wanted to fawn, to appease, to stop the verbal abuse being thrown on my lap.

But something different happened.

I listened.

Not to their words. To my nervous system. To my heart. To the quiet voice inside me that whispered:

"Maybe it's time."

Maybe it's time to stop volunteering for conversations that bruise my spirit.

Maybe it's time to stop standing in rooms where love arrives carrying a weapon. Alcohol can change people, and not always for the better.

Maybe it's time to stop abandoning myself in the hope that others will choose me or see me.

So I took their advice.

Not the way they intended.

I went and loved myself instead.

I made a cup of tea. I sat in the sunshine. I contacted people who speak kindly to me. I phoned people who feel like my mom's energy. I remembered that my worth is not determined by someone's worst moment.

I am no longer available for words that wound. For chaos disguised as honesty. For cruelty disguised as pain. For relationships that require me to shrink in order to stay and bite my tongue, to lie so someone else doesn’t have to look in the mirror.

I am available for peace. For tenderness. For reciprocal love. For people who know that disagreement is not permission for disrespect.

I am not going to tell you to go f**k yourself. I will go tell you to go love yourself, instead.

Sometimes self-love isn't a bubble bath.

Sometimes self-love is quietly walking away from the invitation to suffer.

And choosing yourself instead.

Happy self-care Sunday 🌠

I smile when I remember all the things I was absolutely certain I wanted.

Some of them arrived and taught me beautiful lessons.

Some of them never arrived and taught me even more.

I've noticed that life is often busy preparing gifts I never thought to ask for.

The friendship that appeared after the heartbreak.

The opportunity hidden inside the disappointment.

The love that looked completely different than my carefully organized plans.

Sometimes what we call a detour is really a miracle wearing a clever disguise.

Today, I am sending gratitude to all the closed doors, delayed answers, wrong turns, and unexpected beginnings.

In the words of John Lennon, “life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.”

These twists and bends helped create a life far more colorful, surprising, and sparkling than I could have imagined.

What if the thing you're longing for is not behind you, but quietly making its way toward you now?

Pause for a moment and celebrate one thing that didn't happen exactly as planned—but turned out better than you ever dreamed.

I'd LOVE to hear what it was. 💫🌈✨

BIG NEWS TO SHARE! 🌈

5 days after my mom passed, my house in Castlegar sold ⚡️

Last night the subject to conditions came off and the deal is now legally binding and I am able too share the news that after almost 10 years of ownership this magical house is changing hands and will be turned back into a clinic again.

Everyone one who knows me knows I've been renovating this property for years; my blood, sweat, and tears is here. I'm so happy it will be a place of solace again for the community ❤️
