🏃 The tissues may have healed, but the runner may still not feel ready to return.
Pain remains a source of concern, some movements are still avoided, and confidence is slow to return. Between pure biomechanics and the tendency to psychologize symptoms, psychologically informed physiotherapy offers a middle ground.
It does not replace physical assessment or turn physiotherapists into psychotherapists. Instead, it invites us to ask: Which psychological or behavioural factors are affecting the return to movement?
