A FREE, in-person 45-minute wellness group for women, led by Lea Ivanitz, Registered Clinical Counsellor. Each session blends meditation, breath work, and gentle movement drawn from Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and CBT. These practices are empirically supported for improving mood, emotional regulation, and nervous system function.

The group is especially helpful for women experiencing perimenopausal and menopausal changes, including anxiety, sleep disruption, and overwhelm. It offers patients a low-barrier, evidence-informed step toward better mental health that complements medical care.

Sessions run Thursday evenings, 6:00 to 6:45 pm: Sept 17, Oct 1, Oct 15, Oct 29, Nov 12, Nov 26, and Dec 10 at Safe & Sound Therapeutics, Unit 209, 2365 Gordon Drive, Kelowna.

Free Autism Parent & Caregiver Support Group in Kelowna, BC

Safe & Sound Therapeutics is offering a free in-person support group for parents and caregivers raising children, teens, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This group is facilitated by Shauna Paynter, Registered Clinical Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor, licensed teacher, and parent with lived experience. Shauna introduces practical Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills to support caregiver stress, emotional regulation, nervous system awareness, self-compassion, values-based parenting, and connection.

This group may be helpful for families navigating Autism, school refusal, sensory overwhelm, meltdowns, shutdowns, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, caregiver burnout, family stress, and the upcoming BC Autism Funding changes in March 2027.

Health professionals, physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, educators, and community providers are welcome to share this video with families who may benefit from free parent and caregiver support.

9 years.

Not just older.
Not just wiser.
More present.

Nine years ago, I believed my role was to help people heal.

Today, I understand my role differently.

Healing isn’t something we do to another person. Healing happens when people feel truly seen, deeply heard, emotionally safe, and genuinely understood.

Over the past nine years I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside thousands of counselling sessions with children, teens, adults, couples, families, and fellow therapists. I’ve taught graduate counselling students, supervised new clinicians, supported families raising neurodivergent children, and continued to learn from remarkable mentors and every client who has trusted me with their story.

The more I study trauma, attachment, autism, ADHD, interpersonal neurobiology, and the nervous system, the more convinced I become that behaviour always has meaning.

People are not problems to fix.

We are all just human beings whose stories deserve compassion, curiosity, and understanding.
