🍂 A little note about some fall regrouping:

Wow. Just… WOW. 🤯

It was a wildly busy summer, and we are completely blown away by how much soap you bought! Our soap racks are looking very sparse, and quite frankly, we’re a little overwhelmed by the amount of catching up we have to do. 😂

But these are good problems to have! ❤️

Right now, our production space is completely taken over by all of our summer market supplies. So, we’re taking this week to pack away the market gear, regroup, reorganize, and reclaim our production space so we can get back to what we do best: making LOTS and LOTS of soap! 🧼🫧

September brings back-to-school for our incredible summer staff, and added workload for production staff (me 😉). As most of you know, we are manufacturers first. This means we will be reducing our fall store hours to allow more time for production. We’ll be closed for a few days this week while we get ourselves sorted, but we’ll be back open Saturday, September 5th from 11–4.

Then, our fall hours will begin:

🍂 Tuesdays & Thursdays: 12–5
🍂 Saturdays: 11–4

🧼 MARCH BREAK CLOSURE ALERT! 🧼

Our store and refillery will be closed for March Break beginning Saturday, March 14th so our hardworking team can take a short seasonal break.

We’ll be back and ready to welcome you on Wednesday, March 25th!

Our online store will remain open, and any orders placed during this time will be packed and shipped when we return.

💛 Thank You for Your Understanding & Support 💛

To be completely honest, our world was sent into a bit of a tailspin with the recent Health Canada recall of our Shades of Grey soap. While we respect the role Health Canada plays in consumer safety, the situation has understandably raised concerns and questions — so we’d like to explain how Health Canada compliance works and what this recall actually means.

As shared in our previous post, Health Canada recently added Bay Oil to their Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist and lowered the recommended usage amount. Bay is an essential oil used in this particular bar. Prior to this change, Shades of Grey was fully compliant and considered safe under Health Canada cosmetic standards, just like all of our products. This regulatory update is the only reason this soap was recalled.

Health Canada updates ingredient standards from time to time, and as compliant makers, it’s our responsibility to stay informed and make adjustments when changes occur — which we always do with care and diligence.

We hope our customers can take comfort in knowing that we are, and always have been, compliant with Health Canada safety regulations, and that transparency and product safety remain at the heart of everything we create.

Product Recall Notice – Shades of Grey Bar Soap

I want to take a moment to clear up some confusion and address a recent Health Canada recall involving one of our products.

Shades of Grey is a well-loved bar of soap that has been made using the same trusted recipe for many years—long before I took over the business in 2019. Recently, Health Canada added one of the essential oils used in this soap (Bay Oil) to its Cosmetic Ingredient Hotlist. As a result, and as required, we have voluntarily removed Shades of Grey from store shelves.

We’d like to gently dispel some misinformation that’s been circulating:
✨ If you’ve used this soap, there’s no need to panic. Your skin will not melt off, and there is no immediate danger from past use.

That said, compliance and transparency are important to us. If you currently have a bar of Shades of Grey and would like a replacement, simply bring it into our store at 215 Second St. S. in Kenora ON and we’ll happily substitute it for another bar of your choice.
