They never did come in, Ruby chased them all back out after this, running around like lunatics πŸ˜‚

Can you count how many rolls Stormy did??

This video is hard to post. I don't want to move on from the last couple I did.

is a hard thing. I've written posts about , and when I'm ready I'll dig them up and maybe expound on them given my current experience. I sttill can't fully believe Twister is gone. So many parts of my life, where I am floundering right now, and it stands out so much more without my big solid teddy bear of a horse to fall back on for so many things.

I still have a herd though. They are still showing me things. And worrying me with things πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

I was videoing the herd, and Stormy was rolling. I am like "that's cute to catch the roll on video", I always feel like rolling is processing, and the good shake after is getting rid of what we don't need anymore from our processing.

But Stormy kept rolling! Is he colicky? Is he ok? Is he going to twist his gut with all that rolling? Horses find ways to make those of us who know the perils of being a horse, feel like they are around every corner. Especially after a tragedy.

Stormy got up and moved on, and then found connection to continue scratching his itches.

I need to find that for my life.

I also want to provide our community with emergency equipment, Stormy gave me a scare honestly, and I want to know if another beloved horse is down that I have a better chance of getting them back up. I have a GoFundMe (see my profile links) to raise some funds for this initiative if anyone would be willing to donate or share.

had a tragedy last week as many followers know by now.

I will post more in tribute to Twister soon, but I want to introduce the idea I had while laying awake half the night during the thunderstorm, wondering again what parts of Twister's life are going to improve the lives of others, even it it had to come through his death.

So I started a GoFundMe, if enough money is raised, so that in Twister's honor we can purchase emergency Equine equipment and training for our rural emergency crews.

Check out the link, I hope it makes sense - I welcome feedback on this very important project as well!!

This video is of Twister's last evening on this earth. I thought he was picking up after we rolled him over. I thought maybe we could figure this out. Vet thought giving him meds and time might be enough. Now that I know how hard it is to find horse rescue resources in our area, I would have done things totally different when I first found him. But I can't know if something else was going on, I strongly suspect there was, or he should have gotten up, at least when we tried assisting with the tractor I would have thought he could have gotten his feet under him. But we didn't have proper equipment and things slipped. Had vet out, firefighters, family, friends to see what we could figure out. Called emergency lines and posts on Facebook to try to locate equipment. But by midmorning the next day I knew he was done. People offered to bring equipment or figure things out later that day, but it was already getting too late.

Of all the horses I've lost over the years, this has to be the hardest. He felt like the "heart" of Heart Echo Equines, he was there for me, my kids, events, and many EAL learners in his 6 1/2 years with me. We can't go back and change anything, but we can move forward together and process in a way that honors what Twister started.

This morning I woke to a tornado warning, and it felt different than ever before - a reminder of how a Twister can show up and disappear again and leave us all changed.

Goodbye my friend πŸ™

Feeling like summer 🌞

Merrylegs is excited to let us know it's finally spring, haven't even had any snow for a week now! She says her favorite part about spring is the green grass, what's yours?

We had this snow until a couple of days ago, finally yesterday and today we had some warmth, but everyone was getting pretty grumpy! Anyone else extra glad to move on from the snow?

Ok so here's the reveal you may have been waiting for!

There was a Mouse running around with the pasture horses posted yesterday...

It is awkward to add a Mouse to a farm where there are plenty enough mice already...

Unless the Mouse you are adding is actually another horse!

Welcome to the beautiful chocolate Rocky Mountain mare, named "Mouse", to the Heart Echo Equines herd!

It felt right that she join us after the hole that Butterscotch left.

So far she is fitting in fabulously, developing connection and finding her place 😍
