Is your tight back or stiff legs actually a fascia problem?

Most people blame their muscles for stiffness, but the culprit is often your fascia, the web of connective tissue that wraps your body from head to toe. When it gets glued together, everything feels tight.

Static stretching won't always cut it. You need to get those tissue layers sliding and gliding again.

Grab a foam roller and try this targeted release for your hamstrings and glutes to instantly unlock more mobility:

The Move: Zig-Zag Tissue Shear

1️⃣ Set Up: Sit on your foam roller with your hands on the ground behind you for support.

2️⃣ The Roll: Don't just roll straight up and down. Create a small zig-zag motion with your hips and thighs as you slowly move down toward your knees and back up to your glutes.

3️⃣ The Release: When you hit a tender, tight spot, STOP. Keep the roller stationary and wiggle side-to-side right on that knot to create friction.

Why it works: This specific motion pulls, twists, and wrings out the underlying tissue. It literally "unsticks" large swaths of fascia so your muscles can move freely.

Expect the back of your legs to feel instantly looser and more limber, like you just finished a deep stretching session. 🙌

Exciting news! Our Acupuncturist, Laura Burns, is now incorporating Celluma® Red Light Therapy into her cosmetic acupuncture treatments.

One of the things we love most about cosmetic acupuncture is that it supports skin health naturally. By adding red light therapy, we can further support the skin's natural rejuvenation processes.

Red light therapy uses specific wavelengths of low-level light that are absorbed by the skin and underlying tissues. This light energy supports cellular function and may help stimulate collagen production, improve circulation, and encourage the skin's natural repair processes.

When used as part of a cosmetic acupuncture treatment, red light therapy may help support:

✨ Healthy collagen production
✨ Improved skin tone and texture
✨ A more radiant complexion
✨ Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
✨ Calming of redness and inflammation
✨ Overall skin health and vitality

Combined with cosmetic acupuncture, Celluma® Red Light Therapy offers a gentle, non-invasive approach to supporting healthy, glowing skin from the inside out.

For a limited time, Celluma® Red Light Therapy is included at no additional charge with cosmetic acupuncture treatments.

IV Iron Infusions are now available at Natural Route Health. 💜

IV iron may be considered for individuals with confirmed iron deficiency when oral iron supplementation is not appropriate, not well tolerated, or has not been effective. Treatment suitability is determined through an individualized assessment and review of laboratory findings.

At NRH, IV iron infusions are provided through a collaborative care process. Patients first meet with Dr. Naghmeh Mirhosseini, ND for assessment and review of their health history and blood work. If appropriate, treatment may proceed through nurse practitioner approval and delegation via the Ontario Intravenous Iron Network (ONIN), or in some cases through a patient's family physician or nurse practitioner.

Not sure if IV iron is right for you?
New patients are welcome to book a complimentary Meet & Greet with Dr. Naghmeh to learn more about the process and determine whether a full consultation may be appropriate.

Current patients can call to book directly with Dr. Naghmeh or connect with our office team to request our IV Iron Information Guide.

To learn more or reserve a Meet & Greet, contact our office today.

The first time I ever had Acupuncture, I didn’t even know it was going to happen.

Fast forward a few minutes and I was lying on a treatment table thinking: “Wow… this feels incredible.”

Not scary. Not painful. Just calming, grounding, and strangely familiar, like my body recognized something before my mind did.

Now, after more than 10 years as an Acupuncturist, one of my favourite things is treating people who are trying Acupuncture for the very first time. Almost everyone walks in with the same questions:

“Does it hurt?”
“What does it actually feel like?”
“What if I’m nervous about needles?”

And honestly? Those fears are so normal.

In our newest blog post, we break down exactly what Acupuncture feels like — both during the treatment and after the needles are in; from the tiny sensations you might notice, to the deeply restorative “acu-nap” state so many people experience.

Acupuncture isn’t about forcing the body to heal. It’s about creating the conditions for your body to return to balance, regulate the nervous system, and reconnect with its innate healing capacity ✨

If you’ve been Acupuncture-curious, this blog post is for you.

Let’s talk about something many mothers experience in healthcare—but rarely gets said out loud.

When a child presents with symptoms, the focus can quickly shift to questioning the mother:

➡️ “What are you feeding them?”
➡️ “Are you too anxious?”
➡️ “Maybe something at home is contributing…”

While these questions can be part of a full picture, too often they replace deeper investigation.

The result?

Real concerns can be missed. Mothers leave feeling dismissed.

Trust starts to erode.

Here’s what needs to change:
✨ Mothers are not obstacles to care—they are essential partners.
✨ Their observations matter.
✨ Their intuition deserves to be taken seriously.

Better care starts with better listening.

When healthcare providers take the time to truly hear mothers, outcomes improve—for everyone involved.

🤝 Let’s shift the standard:

• From assumption → to curiosity
• From blame → to collaboration
• From dismissal → to respect

Because supporting mothers isn’t just compassionate—it leads to better care for their children.

Parenting through focus, behaviour, or big emotions can feel overwhelming at times 💜

You’re not alone.

Many families come to us because they’re noticing challenges with focus, behaviour, sleep, or emotional regulation — and want to better understand what might be contributing and how to support their child in a meaningful way.

We’re hosting a free parent workshop to walk you through some of the common factors we look at in naturopathic care — including nutrition, sleep, gut health, and daily habits — and how these can influence your child’s overall well-being.

This session is designed to give you a clearer starting point, whether you’re simply looking to learn or considering more personalized support for your child.

You’ll learn:

• Why some children may experience challenges with focus and behaviour
• How the gut–brain connection can influence what you’re seeing
• The role of blood sugar in mood and attention
• Simple, practical ways to begin supporting your child day-to-day

Details:

When it comes to IV therapy, not all nutrients or approaches are the same.

Vitamin C is one of the most widely used nutrients in integrative care, especially during times when the body may benefit from additional support.

When administered intravenously, vitamin C can reach levels in the bloodstream that aren’t achievable through oral supplementation, which is why it may be considered in certain clinical contexts.

Depending on the individual, IV vitamin C may be used as part of a supportive care plan to:

✔️ Support immune function
✔️ Act as an antioxidant during periods of increased physical stress
✔️ Help maintain energy and overall well-being
✔️ Support recovery and resilience

At Natural Route Health, IV vitamin C is always approached thoughtfully and individually, following a comprehensive assessment and in alignment with your overall healthcare plan.

We also place a strong emphasis on quality and safety:

• Vitamin C sourced from tapioca (not corn, which is commonly used)
• Customized formulations (not pre-made bags)
• Proper storage of temperature-sensitive nutrients
• Medical-grade supplies and monitoring throughout
• Administered by IV-certified Naturopathic Doctors

In integrative cancer care settings, high-dose IV vitamin C has been studied for its potential pro-oxidant effects and selective activity on certain cancer cells, and may be used alongside conventional care as part of a coordinated, supportive approach.

If you’re curious whether IV nutrient therapy is appropriate for you, we’re here to help guide that conversation.
