Deconstruction of lysergic acid diethylamide
Lysergic acid diethylamide (L*D) is perhaps the best-known psychedelic and is currently being explored as a treatment for neuropsychiatric diseases. Despite being discovered over 8 decades ago, we have an incomplete understanding of how its molecular structure produces its unique pharmacological effects as structure–activity relationship studies have been hindered by the complexity of its tetracyclic ergoline core structure.
