I've been called weird before (not rich enough to be called eccentric). Some people see that as a bad thing, an insult, and perhaps in my younger days I would have thought so too; now that I'm older I really don't care what other people think of me (except for a rarefied handful). I love the origin of words and phrases, so when I saw this today I just loved it. If being weird/wyrd means having the power to control my fate, bring it on! So the next time someone says you're weird, tell them, "Damn straight, I do control my fate! Why wouldn't you want to be weird?"

I love words, their origins and meanings. Ichi go Ichi e is a Japanese Zen Buddhist proverb which literally means "one time, one meeting." However, the most beautiful translation I've seen is "Treasure every encounter, for it will never recur." How lovely an expression! We do not know what life will bring us, what people may flow in and out of our lives, or where our path takes us; but the idea to approach each moment as an opportunity to see the beauty in a person, place or time is delightful. Talk about being present and in the moment with good intentions 🥰

If you're a caregiver, an empath, a people pleaser, or just someone who has a really hard time setting & sticking to boundaries, this quote I found is for you. When it says "damaged people," I take it to mean that it's talking about those people who have no interest in growing or putting in the work to become a better human being. It's NOT referring to those of us who've been damaged by the actions of others and who are trying our best to heal and move forward.

It is so difficult to protect yourself and your not limitless energy from those who have no regard for its health but demand it anyways. You can still be present and helpful to others, but on your own healthy terms. Protect your peace and energy!

It's easy to get stuck in the past; it's heavy, it weighs you down, it fills you with regret and recriminations. Wouldn't it be better to "lighten up", to learn from the past but not have it be a weighty burden on your heart and mind? You can't change what happened, but you can change how you approach your future. Shed that burden, step forward with intention, the knowledge of your own strength, abilities and the promise of a brighter tomorrow.

I really dislike it when people say, "Everything happens for a reason" or "The energy you put out there is what you attract." Like either there's some great cosmic plan for some peoples suffering or that you want to attract jerks into your life. Bologna! Life is unfair for many that did nothing to warrant it, just like some peoples lives are supremely blessed without them having to do anything for it. You can be upset about it, as long as you don't wallow long in it. You are just as worthy as anyone else for a beautiful life and wonderful things.

I am 100% guilty of this: I always have things I 'have' to do before I feel like I have earned time to do something I enjoy. It's a hard habit to break, especially if it's something your parents and grandparents also did. The fact is that there are always things that need to be done and always will be. Take some time for yourself. Go for a walk in nature, visit a greenhouse, read a book with a cup of tea, write poetry, go dancing; hopefully without the guilt of "there are other things I should be doing right now." Now to follow my own advice!
