Keep this handy! It's always hard to remember the good things to do when we're stressed...so much easier to reach for the bad things. The opposite of what's recommended here! 😄

Feeling better doesn't always require changing your whole life. Often, it begins with one small, mindful action. As the Buddha taught, the mind shapes our experience. When you care for your mind with wisdom and compassion, your emotions gradually follow. Read when you're exhausted, reach out when you're lonely, walk when you're stressed, meditate when you're anxious, and rest when you're tired. Small habits, practiced consistently, can transform your life.

Embracing change as we age is a challenge. And everything is changing daily - honestly too fast in my opinion. Almost everything I had to do in the past move changed the day after I learned to do it in the first place. Paperless? Two weeks later they are coming around to sign documents - every time I called Rogers, it was a different path to get to the person I needed to speak to (this was true of hydro as well). My particular pet peeve is the way technology is forced on the elderly. Regional transit announced it was offering one day a week free but you need to use your phone, hash tag etc to take advantage. This is how they are forcing tech on the elderly. It's criminal and no one is bothered about it. At least it doesn't appear so.

The Law of Impermanence

The Buddha taught that all conditions are constantly changing. Fortune and hardship, gain and loss, praise and criticism... they arise, remain for a while, and then pass away.

When life is favorable, remain humble. When life is difficult, remain patient. Neither success nor failure defines you forever.

Do not look down on others when you are strong, and do not lose hope when you are weak. Every season has its purpose, and every challenge carries a lesson.

A wise person understands that change is the nature of life. By meeting every circumstance with humility, compassion, and mindfulness, the heart remains steady through every rise and fall.

oh boy SO TRUE. I have just gone through a change and are realizing there must be another soon. Things change so quickly in our culture, environment, cost of living etc. - it is forcing all of us to embrace change with more acceptance and fluidity. We do let go of some things we value when we change, but mostly we gain life experience, meeting new people, learning new ways of living and that always compensates for what we must leave behind.

Everyone wants a new life.

Few are willing to let go of the habits, beliefs, excuses, and comforts that keep them tied to the old one.

Growth always asks for a price. To become stronger, you must leave weakness behind. To find peace, you must release what disturbs it. To move forward, you must stop clinging to what no longer serves you.

Real change begins the moment comfort is no longer more important than your future.

A reminder you may need today:

Not everyone who leaves is meant to stay.
Not every ending is meant to be reversed.
Not every silence deserves a response.

Let people make their choices.
Let life unfold as it will.

✨ What is meant for you will not require you to beg, chase, or prove your worth.

Let it end.
Let it hurt.
Let it heal.
Then let it go.

✨ Choose peace over revenge.
Growth over resentment.
Acceptance over control.

Some of the most beautiful chapters of your life begin the moment you stop holding on to what was never meant to remain. 🌿

Just as lullabies help us drift off to sleep when we are little, being held by song can provide comfort, familiarity and intimacy at all life stages – including our final days. Guided by this insight, Threshold Choir is an international charity that provides people with soothing, non-religious songs of peace as they transition from life into death. As one of the choir members puts it, their singing is ‘like a lullaby that holds you.’

Directed by the filmmaker Florence Brown, this short documentary profiles the Threshold Choir chapter in Devon, UK, capturing the group’s gentle kindness and warmth as they provide comfort to the dying. https://psyche.co/videos/what-you-learn-when-you-sing-to-the-dying-and-what-remains-a-mystery
