🌑❄️ The darker days and the colder weather can be a real hindrance when trying to stay active. But it doesn't have to be. Every year the cold weather comes and this year, why not change your mindset around how it affects you? ❌🌧️ Don't let the weather get in the way of you meeting your health goals and feeling good. 🧥🚶‍♂️ Bundle up and continue your walks outside. 🏋️‍♀️🧣 Bundle up and get to the gym or an exercise class. I challenge you to not let the weather define your fitness. 💪🌬️

🌬️❄️ Many people notice a shift of their digestive function seasonally. When the temperature drops, our digestive system has to work harder at warming the food you consume. 🍲🔥 Warming the food is necessary in order to break it down into smaller pieces and absorb the nutrients from it. This means that raw, cold foods become a harder task for your system. 🥗 Many people notice more gas, bloating, and abdominal pain when consuming raw vegetables in particular. This winter, focus on consuming more warm, cooked vegetables wherever possible. Your body will thank you for it. 🍠🍲 Another thing you can do is incorporate more warming spices into your diet (i.e., cinnamon, ginger, pepper, etc.) Give it a try! 🌶️🍽️

Urinary function often changes as men age. 🧔 A common experience is frequent urination, reduced urinary stream or restricted flow, dribbling, insomnia from needing to urinate at night. 😴 This is often due to enlargement of the prostate as men age or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). All men will have some enlargement of the prostate but the extent of enlargement and the symptoms associated can vary. 👨‍⚕️ DHT, a metabolite of testosterone, increases as men age and stimulates the growth of the prostate. 🦠 There are conventional and alternative treatments that can help to lessen this and address the urinary symptoms associated with it. Other prostate conditions include prostatitis and prostate cancer. Prostatitis is an infection in the prostate that will resemble a urinary tract infection. For prostate cancer prevention, all men above 50 years of age should have their PSA routinely measured in blood work. 🩺🩼🔍
