Hummingbird Feeder Safety 🚨

Hummingbirds are a joy to watch, and many of us love providing a little extra help with nectar feeders. But feeders need regular care to keep these tiny birds safe!

Because feeders can attract many hummingbirds to one area, any bacteria or fungus growing inside can quickly affect multiple birds. Contaminated feeders can lead to serious infections, including swollen tongues that may prevent hummingbirds from eating.

While there are many nectar recipes online, plain white sugar and water is the safest option for hummingbirds. Other ingredients can make these delicate birds very sick.

A clean feeder is a safe feeder - a few minutes of maintenance can help protect the beautiful hummingbirds visiting your yard.
