Ken and Rita Enns donate $1 Million Dollars to LMH
For Ken and Rita Enns, the Leamington Mennonite Home (LMH) has never been just a building. It represents something much deeper: faith, community, compassion, and the responsibility to care for one another through every season of life.
For decades, Ken and Rita have been deeply rooted in the Mennonite community and active members of LMH’s supporting churches NLUMC. Their lives have been shaped by a belief that communities grow stronger when people step forward to serve, volunteer, and invest in the well-being of others.
As LMH begins the next chapter for a new Assisted Living Retirement Residence and amenity spaces for the complex, Ken felt called to help ensure that future generations would continue to have access to the same sense of care and community that has defined LMH for more than 60 years. This special lead gift is in honour of Rita. Ken would like to call this gift to the Mennonite Home a tribute. A tribute to 60 good years of marriage. He and his wife Rita were looking forward to many more years together. They had good health, lived in a wonderful caring community. A community of friends, family and neighbours. Rita had so much more to give, but God had other plans. She is missed by Ken as well as by her many friends and family. Ken wishes she could be here beside him to see the fruits of their labour going to help others.
Their $1 million commitment to the Capital Campaign is more than a donation. It is a reflection of their faith, their gratitude, and their hope for the future of this community.
“We have always believed in taking care of one another,” Ken shared. “LMH has been an important part of community for generations, and we want to help ensure it continues to serve seniors and families for generations to come.”
For Ken and Rita, this gift is not about recognition. It is about people. It is about ensuring seniors can age in dignity, families can find peace of mind, and residents can continue to feel at home within a compassionate faith-based community.
Their story is one of stewardship, generosity, and legacy, stitched together by a lifelong commitment to serve others.
