A lot of people think therapy is only for when things feel “really bad.”

But in reality, many people start therapy when they notice things like:

• feeling stuck or unmotivated
• overthinking or constant mental noise
• patterns in relationships they don’t understand
• using things (like scrolling, or staying busy) to cope

These are often early signs that your mind is trying to manage stress in the best way it knows how.

The tricky part is that those coping strategies can work in the short term, but over time, they can leave you feeling even more drained, disconnected, or overwhelmed.

Therapy isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about:

• understanding what’s actually going on underneath
• building tools that actually help
• having a space where you don’t have to filter yourself

You don’t need a crisis or a “perfect reason” to start.

If you’re in the Leduc/area and this resonates, I’m currently accepting new clients and would be happy to connect 🤍

How do you fill your cup? ☕️🌸

As we move closer to spring, it’s common for mood, energy, and stress levels to fluctuate. Taking time to care for your mental well-being can make a meaningful difference.

Therapy can be one way to refill your cup by developing coping strategies, gaining perspective, and building tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Starting therapy can feel a little intimidating, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. A first session is usually a conversation focused on understanding you and what brought you in.

During an initial session, we may talk about things such as:

• What led you to consider therapy
• Current challenges or stressors you’re experiencing
• Your personal history and important life experiences
• Goals you might have for therapy
• Any questions you have about the process

There’s no pressure to share everything right away. The first session is simply an opportunity to start building understanding, set the pace, and see if the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit.

If you’ve been curious about therapy but unsure where to begin, learning about the process can make taking the first step feel a little easier.

Hello and welcome!

My name is Brandy Thiessen, and this page is where I share information, resources, and insights on mental health, personal growth, and emotional well-being. My goal is to make psychological knowledge more accessible and to share practical, evidence-based strategies that people can use in their everyday lives.

Here you’ll find posts about topics such as stress, anxiety, life transitions, relationships, and developing healthier coping strategies. I’ll also share reflections, helpful tools, and updates from current research in the mental health field that can support greater self-understanding and resilience.

My counselling services are offered through Leduc Wellness Centre, where I work with individuals both in person and online to support them as they navigate challenges, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful change.

Whether you are here out of curiosity, personal interest, or because you are exploring therapy for yourself, I’m glad you’re here.
