We are so excited to announce that Nurtured Minds Wellness is coming to Millet, Alberta 🌲

Beginning November 1st, we'll be opening our newest therapy office inside the brand new August and Main Business Centre! 🤍

What makes this move especially exciting is the opportunity to be part of something bigger. August and Main is creating a space rooted in community, collaboration and connection, bringing together local businesses, co-working opportunities, workshops and shared experiences. We couldn't be more grateful to be part of that vision.

For Nurtured Minds, this is another meaningful step toward our goal of making mental health care more accessible in rural Alberta. Expanding into Millet allows us to reach more individuals and families, grow our low-cost therapy program and continue building relationships in the communities we serve.

With new beginnings also come some goodbyes. At the end of October, we'll be closing our Nisku office, as the building is no longer meeting the needs of our growing clinic. We're incredibly grateful for the clients, connections and opportunities that have been part of our time there, and we look forward to continuing to support our Nisku community through our other locations.

When Nurtured Minds began five years ago, we could never have imagined the beautiful community that would grow around it. Every new space represents more than another office. It's another opportunity for someone to access support closer to home, another relationship built and another step toward making mental health care a natural part of community life.

The final photo in the carousel is our NMW office, currently a blank slate that we can't wait to bring to life!

Here's to new roots, meaningful collaborations and continuing to grow together 🌿

For a moment, she pictured her younger self in that situation.

She agreed to something she didn’t really want to do, and immediately started saying it was 'fine'.

Seeing it happen made something clear.

She recognized the pattern.

Say yes quickly to keep everyone happy and avoid disappointing anyone, then think about how you feel about it later.

For some people, fawning happens so automatically that there’s barely any pause between being asked and saying 'yes'.

Not every act of kindness or compromise is fawning. The key is noticing when keeping the peace means leaving yourself out of the decision.

So the practice became straightforward:

Before you answer, pause and ask yourself what you really want in this moment.

You don’t have to act on your answer right away. First, just notice if you know what it is. 🌿

🌲 Things we're grateful for in 2026 (so far)…

The clients and families who have trusted us with their stories, vulnerability, and healing.

Our growing team of therapists, students, and practitioners who bring so much heart and care to this work.

The community partnerships helping us make mental health support more accessible.

The people who have joined us in the forest, around the campfire, and at our retreats.

The conversations helping reduce stigma and make mental health part of everyday life.

And the incredible support from our local communities as we continue to grow.

2026 has been a year of growth, connection, and meaningful moments. As we move into the final months of the year, we're feeling especially grateful for the people who make this work possible 🤍🌿

A clear sign that your nervous system has more space is that minor things don't end up taking on importance throughout the day.
When a dish is dropped it remains a dish.
When a comment is made, you feel the unpleasantness immediately but you don’t continue to feel it for the next six hours.
You don't remain clenched all the way home after someone cuts you off in traffic.
It doesn't mean that nothing affects you.
That means there’s more time between the event and your body's response. Your shoulders lower. Your breathing calms. You recover without needing to talk yourself out of the reaction for the rest of the day.
That is what we mean when we talk about moving back up the ladder.
The aim isn't to be at the top. Instead, we move through stages including activation, shutdown, connection, and everything in between.
It means gorwing awareness at spotting where you are, understanding what your body needs, and getting you back without condemning yourself for leaving in the first place.
If you'd like to know what nervous system work can look like in therapy, please get in touch with us.

Today on October 10th it's World Mental Health Day 🌲

Mental health is something we all have, and something we all deserve the space, support and resources to care for.

Yet for so many people, taking care of their mental health falls to the bottom of a long list of responsibilities. Between work, family, finances and the demands of everyday life, it's easy to keep pushing through until our minds and bodies start asking us to pay attention.

At Nurtured Minds Wellness, we believe mental health care should be accessible, rooted in connection and woven into our everyday lives, rather than something we only turn to when we're struggling.

Today is an opportunity to keep the conversation going, challenge the stigma that still surrounds asking for help, and recognize that access to mental health support is a community responsibility.

Because healthier individuals help build healthier families, workplaces and communities 🤍

“I thought therapy was for people who were struggling more than me.”

We hear versions of this all the time.

People are still working, parenting, showing up, getting things done, and spending an exhausting amount of time inside their own heads.

Therapy doesn’t have to start at crisis point. Sometimes it starts because you’re tired of replaying the same thoughts, carrying everything alone, or feeling like your mind never really switches off.

That is part of what Leah loves about bringing therapy into nature too. There is more space to breathe, move, notice what is happening, and let the conversation unfold without feeling boxed in.

Leah works with clients in Leduc and Calmar, with a focus on anxiety, overthinking, people pleasing, relationships, and feeling more present in everyday life.

Leah also offers Nature-Based Therapy at our Wizard Lake Retreat Property 🌲

If Leah’s way of working feels like a fit, you can learn more or book with her through the link in our bio.
