It’s often said in the commercial that meditation and mindfulness industry that and arrived through the Vedic tradition, Hindu tradition, and then Buddhist tradition. While these traditions did have these, and wrote about them, meditation and mindfulness are far older and much more global. Indigenous traditions have had their own forms of meditation and mindfulness millennia before. Meditation and mindfulness are universal experiences. They do not belong to any one tradition.
