Get to know hops!

You probably know hops for its role in beer making. But the essential oil has some interesting uses as well.

Hops has been used to encourage relaxation, ease nervous tension, and anxiety.

Its anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties make hops essential oil a wonderful choice for post workout massage blends, to help ease muscle tension and spasms.

Only female hop plants produce the fragrant cones used to make the essential oil. These cones contain a yellow resin called lupulin, which gives hops its distinctive aroma.

While famous for beer, hops essential oil is also used in natural perfumes, deodorants and hair care products.

Hops contains compounds like α-humulene and β-caryophyllene, and β-myrcene which contribute to its distinctive aroma and traditional applications
