Give Paul P. a wave! đź‘‹

This week, Paul P. is taking a local resident to the Adult Day Program.

A ride to the Adult Day Program is about so much more than transportation. It's about helping someone enjoy meaningful activities, social connection, and compassionate support, while giving family caregivers valuable time to rest, recharge, or attend to other responsibilities.

If you see Paul P. out on the road this week, give him a wave! đź‘‹ It's a small gesture that recognizes the compassion and dedication our transportation drivers bring to every journey.

Our drivers are at the heart of our Help Drive Care Forward campaign, helping make every ride possible for people across the City of Kawartha Lakes.

If you'd like to support accessible transportation in our community, visit drivecare.ccckl.ca to make a donation.

Did you spot a Community Care vans this week? Let us know in the comments where you saw them.

Last year our vans travelled over 419,000 km; that’s equivalent to driving from Nova Scotia to Vancouver 72 times!

Our vans help those who rely on wheelchairs or stretchers get to medical appointments, community programs, and gather with friends and family.

Help us raise $50,000 to modify a new van to accommodate wheelchairs and stretchers.

Give before Aug 31st and your gift will have triple the impact thanks to our Gift Matching Sponsors MNP and Dr. Julie Johnson.

What exactly is social prescribing?

In this short video, Akshaya, one of our summer students, explains how social prescribing connects people with community programs and activities that can support their health, wellbeing and social connection.

From exercise programs and social activities to cooking groups and Friendly Visiting, sometimes the right community connection can make a meaningful difference.
